Losing weight too fast?

Hi there everyone!
New to my fitness and have a quick question. I am 29 years old and weighed 200lbs last Monday and 6'1 woman. I used to eat very unhealthy. Mostly fast food everyday. I recently changed my diet for the better. I eat about 1200-1700 calories a day. Mostly veggies, lean meat, fruits etc. I lost 8lbs in one week. I know the ideal weight to lose is 1-2lbs a week (learn alot here) is this caused by such a drastic change in diet. Also cut out as much salt as possible and don't drink soda or coffee. Just straight water all day. Should I change my diet or just stick to what I'm doing. Just want to do this the right way. Any help is appreciated!

My opinion is to stick with what you're doing. The first week will be a big drop as you lose the 'water weight'. The second week will slow down, you may not even see a loss the second week so you may average the 8 pounds to the two weeks. Then the fun begins....where you should see the 1-2 lb loss a week thereafter. Don't tinker too much otherwise you won't know what really works.

Thanks for advice now I know not to get discouraged when that time rolls around! Will keep up my usual schedule. Haven't started exercising yet. Little adjustments here and there for the time being. They say exercise is 30% of weight loss. Downloaded these apps called daily cardio, daily crunches, daily leg etc. Would that be sufficient? It's 5 minute workouts. Downloaded at least 5 of them. So 25 mins per day. Like I said don't want to over do it in the beginning. Baby steps0

Any movement is better than no movement. You can technically lose weight without working out, if you watch your calories. You will, however, be a little healthier in the long run if you work out.0

I found my first few weigh in's I lost more then what i probably should be, like first was 2.5kgs.
I've read that some of that might be water retention? Someone might have to further explain that one, cos im not 100% sure.
To be more accurate also take measurements of your key body parts and watch the cm's (or inches) shrink..!!0 -
Thanks again you guys. Definitely can go for being healthier. Eating so unhealthy for 2 yrs has taken its toll and im at a breaking point. I no longer have sore stomach aches which is a plus. I'll look more into water retention. I'm sure I can find it on Google or on the forums. Good idea about the measurements! Saw a portion that you can input here on my fitness. Love that I discovered this Site.0
