Be careful of the automated goals.

:frown: Hey everyone,
I'm new here, and I haven't been around for long. But I wanted to get your opinions on this matter.

I started using the tools on this website. But I disagree with the results I've been given.
First, it says I should eat 1200 calories per day to lose weight, even if I train a lot (1hr cardio X5 days a week)
The macro-nutrients count is not realistic at all:

Carbs/day : 165g
Fat/Day: 40g
Protein/Day: 55g

First of all, I don't think I'll lose a lot of weight eating so many cabrs per day. Second, 40g of protein isn't enough. Aren't we supposed to eat AT LEAST 1g of protein for every kg of body weight ? In my case, that would be 63.

I tried to follow this regimen...but it's impossible for me. I get hungry all the time and I'm always so tired I can't do anything.

Is there anyone here who has been able to follow the goals this tool gave them? I'm seriously doubting it's efficacy.

Thank you :):flowerforyou:

First off, set your weekly loss goal to 0.5lbs per week. According to your ticker you do not have enough to lose to have a large deficit. You are tired and hungry all the time because you aren't eating enough. You should be netting your BMR each day.

Second, if you do a workout you eat more. You put in the exercise into the exercise diary which will increase your calories for the day.

For macros, carbs will not make you gain or lose. A calorie deficit will make you lose weight. Far too many people seem to be afraid of carbs. For protein, MFP sets it low so always aim to be higher than the goal it gives you.

Another option would be for you to research TDEE .. find yours, take a cut of 15% off of it and eat that amount of calories.

You can go in and change your macros to your own settings. Less carbs, more protein.

Thank you for your advice :) I appreciate it!

I will change my goals to lose less per week. I'm not in a rush to lose weight, but I really want to get back in shape :)
