What am I not doing....?

Feeling a little frustrated today.... :S So I have noticed that some of my clothes are fitting different (in a good way), however when i step on the scale I see the same weight over and over, give or take a few oz's or even a lb... yet I still feel different and I am working hard. So seeing the scale not moving has been a tough one for my motivation... this morning I decided to do some measurements (don't recommend doing this by yourself) and found that I have gone down 2.4 inches on my waist also noticed in some of my other measurements... so tell me this, how can you not lose lbs but show inches lost? I guess all I can do is stick with it and hope to see more changes soon...

I'm having the same issue. I'm doing Jillian Michael's 30DS though, so I feel like I'm increasing my muscle and losing fat. The scale hasn't changed, but I'm down 2.25' in my waist. My motivation is also taking a beating.0

I don't know what you're not doing, but I know what you're doing wrong..... paying too much attention to the number on the scale! Don't weigh as often. If you feel better, look better and you are losing inches then you are doing it right! Be patient, the scale number will eventually go down too.0

I experienced the same thing. However think about it this way, would you rather loose weight or inches. Two people can weigh the same and wear different size clothes. Focus on the fit of your close b/c the scale is only one aspect of loosing weight and it can vary based on the time of day, your water intake, your stress level, etc...but your clothes don't lie. FOCUS ON THE INCHES LOST!!! The goal is for a smaller dress/pant/shirt size right, well don't place as much emphasis on the scale. Maybe weigh yourself once a month....it definitely :happy: helped me.0

I though I hit a plateau a few weeks ago. However I'm in a wedding a tried on the brides maids dress I ordered a few months ago. It was huge on me reordered 3 sizes smaller. The scale didn't move but I'm losing inches and fat. Don't focus on the scale I would have someone measure every month and do a body fat percentage caliper or body pod done. If your working out remember you re gaining muscle as well. Feel free to add me if you would like. Hugs.0

In general, lean muscle is denser than fat. Compare, for instance, a bag of flour and a feather pillow. The pillow is going to be much larger yet weigh less because the feathers are less dense than the flour.
So, you may have lost fat yet gained lean muscle. You are "denser" than you were and therefore your waist shrunk.0 -
I really hope that the food you log is not the only food you are eating.
ETA: If that really is all you are eating, you are NOT gaining muscle. :noway:0 -

^^THIS! I let that number get to me sometimes too, but then I grab the measuring tape, whip up some numbers, see the progress and rejoice.
Remember, your weight can fluctuate around 5 lbs IN ANY GIVEN DAY due to water retention and normal digestion taking as long as it does; I've seen it go more!
So yeah, don't trust the scale so much. The mirror tells volumes more about your progress.0 -

Muscle- it weighs more than fat; also, your body is adjusting to your new routine- give it time, the scale will catch up, but honestly, gauge your loss via inches NOT weight- inches are THE BEST INDICATION of your progress. :-)0

Don't know if this helps, but...... My scale has read 175 to 173 for the last 8 weeks. Talk about frustrating as I am really watching the food and exercise. But then I went shopping with my Mother in Law......pants size 12 down from a size 14.
The scale never gives the whole story!
How do you feel? Is your energy Up?

Like a few others above stated, I really hope you are just really inconsistent at logging and that you ARE eating more.0 -

I get inconsistent with putting in my food for dinner time as I need to put in recipes that then breaks down etc. My dinner's are averaging about 400 - 500 cal's
So please note that I am eating! I am taking in less then before but not less than proper portion sizes0 -

Some days you only enter 300 calories. Even with the dinner, that's too little. But, ok, assuming you have MFP set correctly, and assuming you are willing to eat all of your calories... it is impossible to tell what is going wrong if you don't log accurately. (Both food and exercise)0 -
You really need to make it a point to log ALL your food girl... holding yourself accountable for everything you put in your mouth is a HUGE hurdle...
You cant exercise away a crappy diet... even if youre making better choices, the portions need to be controlled.
If you are honest with yourself about how much and what you are eating.. staying at a decent deficit, and exercising a few days a week, you WILL keep losing.0
