Brisk walking

Hi guys,
I recently joined and have taken up brisk walking as my exercise (starting off as I wouldn't be the fittest girl in the room) :P
I have read online that it is very effective with aiding in weight loss.
But what I am wondering is has anybody here stuck to brisk walking as their only exercise and lost weight (along with diet and watching cals)?
I started off on about 4km and each day I have walked further.I am currently brisk walking 8.6km a day and will gradually over time increase this distance.
Sound any good to anyone who knows more than I do??!
Let me know, motivation always welcome!
Thanks!

In terms of walking briskly versus jogging, running etc. yes...that's what I've done from the beginning of this year when I seriously wanted to shed the stubborn weight (along with watching calories). It took only about 2 months and I haven't been at this weight since high school many, many years ago. In other years, I jogged a lot and played more volleyball etc. but not in 2013 and voila! However, I truly believe the secret of success was counting calories and learning to make smarter choices with the aid of MFP0

Brisk walking is great exercise. I walk five or more miles every day. I love it and it loves me. Our city trail calls my name. Walking and a calorie deficit have kept me on a steady weight loss. Works for me and I feel great.0

I'm so glad that you're getting Brisk walking, as I noticed he was packing on the pounds recently. His tail didn't wag as much and he didn't seem quite as happy to see me the last time I saw him, but I am sure you will find plenty of people who can take Brisk walking and do a lot with it. Do you have a kid who could take Brisk walking to school? Brisk walking to the store is a good idea, especially if it is pet friendly. Brisk walking to Starbucks might be good, too, but make sure he doesn't drink any coffee. Dogs go crazy on coffee.0
