Being able to view your diary would be helpful. Hard to give and words of advice when your eating and exercising habits are secret. Words of encouragement are easy either way though- Just keep swimming! <3

Maybe its not working because you are dieting...

You really can't gain muscle that quickly, especially on a calorie deficit. It could certainly be water weight though

Here's a good little "guide" that might be helpful. good luck!

I'm 5' 3" and trying to lose ~50 lbs. It's rough but keep it up, you'll get there!
  • I'm 5'7 and currently trying to lose 30-50lbs. I started in late March, lost a few pounds, then strayed around May. Did very little in June, and July. But I'm back at it now in August. I started back August 10th, I believe, and I've lost four pounds( four pounds I gained during my stray smh).
I don't know what you're eating, or what you're doing for exercise, but here are a few tips that I use.

    **
-Drink water first thing when you wake up, they say if you drink 16 oz first thing when you wake up it helps to rev up your metabolism. And of course drink it through out the day. Also make you sure you have at least 8oz before bed, really good for your digestive system.
-Eat breakfast...actually eat, period. Don't skip meals.
-Fruits, veggies, and peanut butter are my best friends. Oh, and grilled chicken.
-On top of whatever exercise you do, add in walking at least 30 minutes a day.
-Challenge yourself, do a little more than you did last time.
-Be patient with yourself. You didn't gain x amount of weight in one week, you're not gonna lose it in one week. (Not saying you believe that's gonna happen, but the point is to be patient)

    **
Those are what I use and it seems to be effective.

Hi everyone, I'm 5'2 and would like to lose 50 pounds and make a lifestyle change. I have put my current goal at 10% of my weight which is 19 pounds. I would love for any of you to add me as a friend so we can give each other encouragement. I am starting this site again for the second time today so I'm hoping to keep the motivation this time around.
  • I am 5'2 and hoping like most of you to lose 50lbs. I did very well in the beginning of the year, but have not been very motivated in a while. I made a vow this morning, that today would be the day I gain back my motivation and get off my butt. I can use all the support I can get. I know I can do this, just nice to have friends with you along the way.

Hi! I'm 5' 3.5" and have lost 56 pounds so far using MFP and am looking to loose another 25 (and then after that maybe another 20.)

I think the best advice I have would be to just keep with it. If you slack for a week (or two, or three), no worries, just get back to eating right and working out the next week and you'll still see results- don't let yourself downward spiral for too long.

I was taking a mini break from MFP to enjoy the end of summer. I was still eating well and exercising, but just not tracking anything so my diary looks a bit blank a couple weeks back or so, but I'm back to logging religiously if you want to check out my diary to see how I eat. I personally love looking at other people's diaries for ideas.

I think it's good to take little breaks here and there to just maintain your weight naturally (basically w/out planning everything I eat and counting calories.)

I don't really stick to any specific dietary restrictions, I just try to eat a good amount of protein and limit sugar and junk.
