Start tracking your sodium ... It looks like you are eating a lot of pre made foods, or eating out a lot and that stuff is notorious for having a lot of sodium. You are doing okay on water ... are you exercising at all? If you are then you need to add that in and then consume at least some of those calories as well ... Keep with it!
  • I'm going to be tough with you here. Your diet is all over the place. You're eatiing a lot of processed food and fast food which just isn't good for you. Some days you're eating nowhere near enough calories and other days you're going over. You don't seem to have a set meal pattern to your day and also drink a lot of drinks with sugar in. I think you need to take a long look at your diet and completely overhaul the way you eat because until you do so you're going to stay the same really.

Take a look at my food and exercise diary. It allows my body to function well even with punishing exercise routines, whilst making sure I get my energy from sensible places.

Good luck on your journey - you will certainly find MFP helpful and everyone here is very supportive - just be prepared to be open minded and take on board what people say - it's out of love and because they know all to well the traps that can be fallen in to xxx
  • I agree about monitoring you sodium and also I would double your water intake. Do you exercise at all or do any kind of weights at all?

Just from taking a glance I think that the first change you should make would be to drink a lot more water, and make it your goal to drink NO drinks with calories. This is one area that is causing your diet a lot of havoc, and the thing is that that stuff goes straight into your bloodstream too, spikes your blood sugar and gets stored as fat. So if you need to drink coffee, try to drink it black, and drink tea plain and unsweet.

Maybe make yourself a one week or two week challenge of getting 8 to 10 glasses of water a day, and then some plain coffee and or tea on top of that to deal with the caffeine addiction. (I really don't recommend starting a diet and going through caffeine withdrawal right at the same time).

The second thing is that you need to make more food at home that does not involve a sauce. Cook veggies and meat with seasonings and flavors that are no or extremely low calories. That way you will lower your sodium intake, and have more calorie space to be getting the veggies and protein you need.

Of course you also need to try and get in some form of exercise everyday, even if you just start with ten minutes of walking.

Also, I don't know how much you weigh or how much you want to lose, but I think you may have set your goals too low. Do not try to lose weight too quickly, slow and steady will win the race. If you try to drop it fast, your body picks up on that and goes into starvation mode, where it tries to hold on to all fat that it can. So the best thing is to create a calorie deficit every day that will allow you to lose about a pound to two pounds (Maximum) a week.

MFP can calculate all of that for you, on the goals section of the website.

Really though, try making it your goal for a week or two to eliminate the high calorie drinks. That will be a great first step, and when you accomplish that goal you will feel great about the changes you've made. Having non weight loss goals that actually do help you get in shape are hugely motivating and encouraging :)

Thank you all for such a quick and helpful tips!! it really means a lot to me!
I do exercise atleast 5 to 6 days in a week for atleast 2 hrs.
How can I make my excercise entries public?

    Right now I weigh 83kgs.
from past 4 yrs my weight is always in the range of 83 to 86. Never below that or more than that.
    My height is 5'8".

Will it help if I keep the daily calorie intake less than "Calories" rather than "Net calories" counter?

    Thanks.

MFP has calculated how many calories you should eat each day in order to lose weight without getting any exercise. When you do exercise, it adds those calories back to the amount you can eat.

Why? Well basically if you are supposed to have a total calorie deficit of 500 calories on any given day, if you exercise and burn 500 extra calories, but don't replace them through food, you will have a net deficit of 1000 calories. That takes you from losing one pound to two pounds a week. If you want to lose two pounds a weeks, then place that as your goal and MFP will calculate based on that. I have mine set on 1 and 1/2 pounds a week, so that I have a net deficit of 750 calories each day.

So how that works is that each day I start with 1440 calories I can eat (based on my height, weight, gender, how active I am). This already takes into account the calorie deficit I need to lose weight. If I burn 200 calories, I need to eat 200 extra calories for a total of 1640 for that day.

There are some people on this site who don't eat their exercise calories back, but that is the recommended method and it really does work for so many of us on this website. Your body needs a certain amount of food each day just to function, and when you burn extra calories, it needs extra calories in order to meet those minimum needs.

So I just recommend you decide how much is your goal to lose each week, put that into your setting, and then eat the amount that MFP tells you to each day.

    :)

Thanks SouthernBell86! That really cleared the confusion! i have set it for 2 pounds per week. i will be on most of the days below my net calories! that is the normal calories im supposed to have plus the excercise calories. so the thing is one needs to be under the net calories to loose weight or else body will go for starvation mode??? am I right?
  • What Southern Belle is saying is that you need to at least eat back half of what you earn through exercise. This could mean you are eating under your net calories for the day but you should try not to be any less than 1200 calories so if MFP tells you that in order to lose 2lbs a week you need to eat 1200 calories a day and you then do 200 calories worth of exercise you will need to eat those 200 calories back or you will drop under 1200 and then the body goes in to starvation mode. xxx
