Where I want to be!

Well to kick things off I guess I should say that when I started trying to lose weight I thought it would end up being a lost cause. Since the time I was little I ate extremely unhealthy all the time. I was caught in the trap a lot of kids today were stuck in. The wake up, go to school, get home and eat terrible food and drink a ton of pop while playing games until I go to sleep. That was my routine my entire elementary and middle school years. In eight grade I really started becoming insecure about how I looked. More than anything I hated going to school and I hated talking and meeting people. At an early age I was already becoming a hermit. What was worse was that I knew it and I didn't do anything about it.
My first year of high school the routine pretty much persisted, but come my sophomore year things started to turn around for me. Now as socially awkward as I was at this point I still had really good and close childhood friends. Anyway, being the lucky guy that I was at the time, my uncle gave us a ton of workout equipment (Might as well of been a gym) I had everything from a bench press to a squat rack. However, for about a month I never even considered using it. That is until one of my closest buddies decided that we should start weight lifting. And so it began.
We decided to start probably around mid September. (Pretty much the beginning of sophomore year) When we started I was 233 pounds. By the end of the year I can't remember exactly, but I would venture to say I was a outstanding 230 pounds hahahaha. I hadn't lost much weight by any means. However, I gained a great amount of strength. When we started I could hardly bench 25 pounds on each side, but just in that short amount of time I got my bench up to around 225! I only use bench press as a measurement because that is what everyone asks about  .
Sophomore year came to an end and I was still chubby, unhappy, and socially awkward haha. I did get a lot stronger during that year though. Then summer came around and with my foundation of strength set it finally happened. Things started to fall into place for me and another very good friend of mine suggested that we start doing the Insanity workout program. The 63 day journey through hell began for us and that is where I started learning everything and anything I could about weight loss. By the end of the summer I went from 233 pound down to around 195 pounds! A MASSSSSSSIVE accomplishment. I was so happy that all the work was starting to pay off.
I didn't know it yet, but when my junior year of high school started it would soon become my best year ever. When I went back to school SO MANY PEOPLE came up to me and congratulated me on the weight loss. That was the beginning of the whole not being socially awkward. I can't really say everything that happened my junior year of high school, but it was the absolute best time I had ever had in school and by far the best experience with getting to know other people I have ever had. In weight lifting I became the kid that others were comparing themselves to. Being the one that use to that it was an absolutely amazing feeling.
Junior year came to an end, but I knew this was my opportunity to make everything I wanted to happen. I decided to dedicate this summer to getting in the greatest shape I could and even try to make the push for the weight I told my self was impossible for me to get to. When I started I wanted to get from 233 pounds to 180 pounds. This summer I continued to work hard. I got a job, I exercised as with my own routines using the knowledge that I picked up from the past year and a half of work, and ate as healthy as possible.
Now I am starting my senior year of high school and I am currently 175 pounds. I surpassed my goal that I originally set. So what better of a way to celebrate then by setting another goal. I could maintain my weight if I wanted to, but now I want to work even harder and try to get that six pack that everyone wants so bad! haha. This past year and a half has been amazing and I have learned so much. I can't wait to finish off my senior year of high school and keep on doing what I do best!
To anyone who thinks they can't do it. Let me tell you, it is definitely possible. I never thought I could do it. Now I may not be perfect, but change is possible. Don't make excuses and push for what you want! Using myfitnesspal was an amazing help and if you are on this site you are already moving in a good direction haha!
