Being too hard on myself?

I recently found out I'm pregnant! Before I knew I was, i was really struggling with exercise. I was doing it, but I was (as they say) dogging it. I was short of breath and getting very hot, but I persisted. Once I found out I was pregnant the first question i asked my doctor was "can i still exercise?" to which he said yes. YAY!! I was 70lbs heavier with my last pregnancy and had a crap time because of that! I don't want to put on too much weight either this time - 70lbs last time!!
However, since i've found out i was pregnant my father died (we were estranged) and I am not sleeping well. My food is stlll good, no change there, but because i'm not sleeping i haven't got the energy to exercise which is making me fed up and grumpy. Vicious circle!!!
I was three weeks away from finishing Tapout. I was so excited because the last 90 programme i did, got interrupted due to a virus.
So my question is this (got there eventually ). Do you think I should power thru with Tapout and do what i can? Or do something easier, like 30 day shred until i have the energy to finish Tapout (apparently 13 weeks is when you feel better - I don't remember if that's the case!) then go back to it. Or just do shorter routines and start Tapout again once i'm post baby ready? I'm beating myself up a bit because i can't do my routines. I DO NOT want to stop working out. I am also very worried about when i go back to work in Sept because i'll be doubly exhausted and I exercise in the evening. I need to get my routine back before that time.
Thanks in advance for any advice - I was going to try mumsnet but they are so judgmental and I know you'll all 'get' me. I hope. Thanks.

Firstly congrats on the pregnancy! how exciting, basic answer is yes you are being too hard on yourself. I know when I was pregnant I was exhausted full stop, I would say do exercise when you can and be proud that you are not one of those people using pregnancy as an excuse to stop everything etc. The fact that you want to keep going is great and better for you all round but let yourself be tired a bit and then when you start feeling a bit more normal (hopefully) up it. Go for walks for now find some stars, try the 30 day shred and see how you feel about it and if you feel like you can work out more then go for it. Just dont be hard on yourself and push yourself too far. It sounds like you are making brilliant choices and wanting to keep fit so thats the best start, generally after 13 weeks you should feel loads better!0

You are being too hard on yourself!!! You need lots and lots of rest!!! Congrats by the way!!!
Seriously though, whenever I try to break the bad habit, I will be super tired, and push through a workout to make me get back on track so that way I will be so tired I can actually fall asleep and stay asleep, not sure if you should do that being pregnant, but I would ask. I tell myself I have to like reset myself, especially since I work overnights, and on my days off try to sleep like a normal person, so I have to "reset" myself like twice a week to make sure I keep my sleeping on track (and I was told I have insomnia, but don't like taking meds and this is what works for me!!!)
good luck with everything!!!0 -
