tdee-25%... net vs. gross calorie dilemma

When you calculate your TDEE-25% do you still need to watch your net calories?
My calculated TDEE with a 25% cut (moderate activity level) is 1,570 but i am starting to notice that I am netting low, under 1,000 calories most days.
I don't like eating back exercise calories so should i decrease my cut value? or does it not matter.
Thank your for the help!

With your TDEE-25% you shouldn't be eating back exercise calories. Its all calculated in your totals! I record exercise with a 1 calorie burn just to record my exercise. So you should actually be netting 1570 calories a day!0

When you use the TDEE method you already take into account your exercise cals. When you log your exercise you should be changing the cals burned to 1. If you find that you're feeling tired or hungry I'd cut back on the cut (I've always seen people do 15-20%, 25% seems extreme unless you have a ton of weight to lose) or increase your activity level0

How are you logging your exercise? Most who do the TDEE method only log exercise as 1 calorie (if they log it at all) so the number doesn't get thrown off. That would make the gross and net numbers almost identical.0

Then what is this business of people claiming you need to net above your BMR?0

Your BMR and TDEE are 2 different things. Then what is this business of people claiming you need to net above your BMR?

No, your exercise has already been factored into the TDEE method. Just set your calorie goal to the suggested number and stick to it. You don't need to log your exercise burn (I just put 1 cal burn next to mine if I log it) and you don't need to worry about eating exercise calories back. Just take your magic number and stick to it :happy:0 -

Sounds like you burn more cals than the moderate activity level would suggest. I would recommend you change your activity level from moderately active to active, or go to TDEE -20% as is typically recommended
ETA: I just looked and you only have a couple lbs left to lose. Since that is the case you should be aiming for TDEE-10 to 15%, not 25% or you risk a larger % of your weight loss coming from lean muscle instead of fat.0 -
I am aware of that... When doing Tdee-(whatever cut) it has been stressed to me to make sure that i am still netting above my BMR which would be 1,300. Hence my confusion...

Oh and hell i like seeing how many calories i burn so i log it full out instead of as 1 calorie but i dont eat them back. I just enjoy seeing the burn and such.0 -

Thank you kindly sir and yes i will be switching to maintenance in 3lbs or so... i guess i should decrease the cut so i make that a seamless process. More calories for me :drinker:When you calculate your TDEE-25% do you still need to watch your net calories?

I also go by my tdee-% I add my exercise so it posts and I can see how many calories I burned but then I delete it out of the exercise tab so it doesn't confuse me as to how many calories I have remaining for the day.0

How I've done mine is somewhat confusing but here goes...
My daily calorie goal is set to BMR 1450
I exercise and add 350 calories for whatever exercise I do, no matter the exercise or duration...which brings my total to 1800
On days I don't exercise I don't add the 350 calories into my daily total, those days I eat to BMR.( 1450)
I always hit 1450 ( no exercise), sometimes I hit 1800 (exercise) or anywhere in between.
Sometimes I go over...but that's another post.0
