home--congrats for being so close to that "normal bmi"! that's awesome!!
well, we went to the top of the eiffel tower today. kids liked getting to look out all over vegas. boy wanted to go higher!
the french treats were so-so, to the kids. mommy enjoyed munching a bit on them, and then the wt loss fairy made a quick visit and caused dd to spill her hot chocolate all over the rest of the goodies!
thank you fairy for saving me a bucketload of calories!!
and katiem--staples? ugh. so cd not handle that! and hang in there. as we say here, some days are like that--even in Australia (as noted by Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good very bad day) (())
ok, back to get organized for the rest of the day of "school." later--0 -
Stacey~Sounds like you had a fun time on your field trip. Thanks I know we all have those days. It just sucks when one day is a great day and the next it's crap! Just makes it that much worse. But that is how it seems life goes like for me.
Katie~Glad to see you back! Sounds like you have been busy and having some fun.
Home~Way to go on the BMI!
So today as I was sitting at the comp talking on the phone with my mom my dd1 points out a HUGE spider on the wall a mere couple feet away (just on the other side of the desk). :noway: Normally I don't have a problem with spiders BUT this thing was bigger than a quarter! The hubby got home a short time later and caught and released it into the "wild". DD1 was "screaming" for it's execution but we decided to show some mercy and didn't execute it. I don't know how to put pic into my post otherwise I would show you a pic that I took of it. My mom jokingly told me that we could keep it as a pet and put a leash around it and walk it. I told her NO THANK YOU!0 -
GM!
Katie- Glad to see you! I think that's great that you are doing a 1/2~ A woman after my own heart!:flowerforyou:
Katiem- STAPLES!!!! yuck!
Stacey- I am glad you had a great field trip!
Home- I would be a little peeved myself about the bug guy.
It's been a crazy week so far and it doesn't seem to be slowing anytime soon. I am looking forward to tomorrow night though. I was asked to sing at someone's baptism...my first time I am going to be singing in front of people...I am a little nervous!0 -
Nicole ~ Aww, thanks! Good luck to singing tomorrow! I wish I could carry a tune
Katie ~ I would have totally killed that spider, I'm not the catch and release kind of gal when it comes to those
Stacy ~ Thanks! And totally love the weight loss fairy story! That's too funny!
Home ~ Congrats on getting into normal BMI! I've been trying to get there for 6 months, my body just doesn't want to drop below 142..so I've never been less than 25.2 *insert eye roll here*
Did C25k with my friend, pushing the boys in the double, and came back and ran another 4 while my hubby watched them Saturday I plan on running 9. No big deal if I don't get there, I still have 5 weeks til the half LOL I joined a running group on Saturdays and they actually have a water station set up! So I'm going to try to work those in so I don't feel like crap all day after running for that long. I just got some Advocare Rehydrate in the mail today, and I'm in love with that stuff! Today was a tough workout, but after drinking that stuff I feel so much better!0 -
YAY I found the SAHM board for THIS week (I was lost way back in January and actually posted on a January week board roflmao)
So here is what I orignially posted
Hey Ya'll! I'm new to MFP, started about 4 days ago after a friend showed me the app she had for the site on her cell phone. I then downloaded the app onto my phone and promptly came to the website. Although my screen name is Vauleese, my real name is Amanda and I am a SAHM with 3 little girls (9, 6 and 2) and 2 kitties. I do my best to get myself and my kids to eat healthy but for the life of me anything with sugar in it calls to me. Which also bring's to mind my other downfall....I LOVE To bake! As I write this I'm waiting for 4 eggs to come to room temperature so I can bake a cake for a friend's home business get together tomarrow night. I'm going to figure out how to make all my goodies low calorie and low sugar too!
My older 2 daughters are in school right now which opens up time for me to play with my 2 year old or go ride my bike with her in her trailer or to clean the house. I think after a while though you can only clean so much before your going nuts with the vacumn cleaner lol.0 -
Nicole~good luck on the singing! I love to sing BUT not a fan of doing it in front of people.
Katie~I felt guilty killing it. LOL It wasn't hurting anyone or going after us. Plus it wasn't me that caught it so that is the key. If I could have gotten to it then it would have been dead! Since the hubby caught it (he wanted to look at it closer, he always does) then I figured he could release it. Sounds like you are running like crazy! Just reading about it makes me tired.
Welcome Amanda~I LOVE to bake too! Today I plan on baking some bread.
Well I best be getting back to cleaning and I need to put some lil ones down for a nap.0 -
Hey Ladies!
Ok so I'm back. I know I keep saying that but seriously.... something snapped. I saw a completely unphotoshopped image and freaked out. So today during afternoon nap time I maded myself start small, 10 minutes of cardio and 20 of weights. A small start but somthing. And I also did it in a sports bra and shorts, so every now and then I would catch myself in the mirror and see the "fat roll" talk about incentive!
What has been your guys biggest help in losing and keeping off the weight? It has NEVER been this hard for me. Normally I'd drop my calories, walk a bit more and bam! But after baby number two it's not working. I am up for any suggesstions. I'm nearing the 3-0 and 11 years modeling so I need help, without the help of a surgeon. I refuse to to have anything sucked out (as tempting as it is).
Has anyone done the Power 90 Bootcamp and Power 90 Fat Burner? (from beachbody)
@Amanda, welcome! The vac can be a great workout, but so tedious, you can only dance with it so much! (My 6 year old laugh at me when I "dance" with the vac or mop)
@Katapple, what got you started on marathons?
@Nicholee, good luck on the singing! That's awesome!
@Katie, kill the spider! lol
I'm trying to keep up with everyone... so difficult! I wish this was an easier interactive interface like facebook or somthing along those lines ya know?
Blessings for a good rest of the week ladies!0 -
Red~I've seen ONE photoshopped picture of me and I about DIED! I kept thinking to myself "there is no way I'm going to look that good!" I know now that's my inner negative nancy being a Nag. I'm having trouble loosing the belly roll from 3 births and I'm hoping I can get rid of it on my own without the help of a doctor, if I find something that might work I will let you know!
KatieM~ Do you make your bread from scratch? I've only ever tried the vegan bread from the local health food store and it was very heavy to me. I think bread should be light and fluffy not heavy and thick KWIM?
So I finished the lovely cake that was supposed to be for this home business party tonight, placed it on the table to wrap it up in foil and remembered I needed to wash some dishes real fast, forgetting that my youngest was now up from her nap. I turned around and there she was, covered in yellow cake and purple frosting! It didnt help that her older sister's were sitting at the table watching her do this each with huge chunks of the cake in their hands. I think it's the weight loss fairy's way of telling me it was for the best that it wasn't in my house for to long lol.0 -
Amanda~Yes I do mine from scratch. When I first started making bread it was heavy and most of the time dry but now it is moist light and fluffy. I have given many loaves of bread to neighbors and members of the same church as mine and I have been told that it is the best bread they have tasted. Not sure if that is them just saying that to make me feel good or not. However I think it taste good and my family does too. IMHO I think that when it is heavy it just shows the persons lack of experience with making bread either that or their impatience in waiting for it to rise properly. That was me when I first started making bread. I just wanted to eat it so I didn't let it rise more than one time. However now I won't go less than 3 times (helps with it being light and fluffy). Another thing that I would do that is a "no no" is put too much flour in it. Purely because when I kneaded the bread I didn't want it to stick to my hands now I put only enough to allow for it to form and ball (that helped with it being moist). It is still very sticky when I knead and then let it rise. Like anything else it just takes some practice to "perfect" it. I am still perfecting my bread BUT it taste a whole lot better than it did when I started. I am not sure how you kept it together when the kids got a hold of the cake. Of course in this house it def wouldn't have gone to waste the kids would have polished it off rather quickly!
Red~Your body might be "used" to the exercise that you are doing. Have you tried to switch it up? Also may be used to the way that you are eating. Just a thought. You made me LOL with the spider comment!
So today is such a contrast from the other day! I was able to get someone to watch the kids and went and did some work for our church for a little bit. That was nice to be able to sit and contemplate spiritual things for a lil while w/o kids running around screaming. Looking forward to tonight too.....date night! YAY!!! On the fitness side of things I really need to get into doing some "strength" workouts. It is time to start to tone up this mid section. Oh and I weighed myself today, I lost another pound. Can't wait until the inches start "flying" off!0 -
kids bickering? put them to work together--ds and dd2 are wiping down the kitchen table and chairs. clean up gets done and fighting stops. win win --for mommy
just finished 2 mi walk with leslie! tested out one pair of shoes for each mile. 1 more pair to test tomorrow. gotta love zappos!0 -

My kids bicker and putting them to work inn opposite ends of the house works better. I've tried telling them time and time again that life is to shor to fight but they dont' listen.0 -
vauleese--that's what i would do for older ones. but little guys get into mischief when i can't see them.
just finished lisa whelchel's creative correction (book). LOADS of good ideas on various problem behaviors. maybe this would work for your sibs--stand in backyard very far apart and each one has to yell i love you! to the other one 20x. (they alternate). that might help dissipate the anger and at least is a + phrase, gets the noise OUT of your house and maybe will end in giggles. just one the MANY ideas from the book.
also, she is christian and uses a lot of scripture work with her kids for discipline. and prayers. i wrote out many of the prayers and other strategies on index cards, hole punched them and put them on a small ring---to carry with me so i have a handy dandy reference. i need it that badly! i've even done some of the prayers already with my oldest.
anyway, just putting it out there. as those ladies who've known me for a while now, they know i am always READING and gleaning bits of wisdom from here and there.
later chicas. have a great day!!0 -
Welcome everyone who joined this week!
Wow, I need to try to check in more often, looks like I've missed a few convos, I can't keep up.
This week was good for me as far as getting out and getting out and working some butt off. I walked 3 days this week with a friend, for a total of 7.5 plus the 1.5 I walked with hubby on Saturday.
Hubby needs more motivation, but he's doing better than before. Not a lot went on this weekend. Saturday was pretty boring, other than me and the hubby got to walk 1.5 around our riverwalk together (without our daughter, she stayed home with nana and lil man (4 months almost 5) went with us) so it was a nice quiet walk. And then today, went to the mall, walked around for an hour and a half, then hubby dropped me off at a Scentsy candle party.
Hope everyone had a good week and weekend, I"m weighing in tomorrow. G'night everyone.0 -
Stacey~ I so need to get that book and check it out! Such a good idea with going to the backyard and yelling "I love you" to each other!
Well we went to a birthday party yesterday and I did great on the cake and ice cream! One scoop and one cupcake....before it would have been 3 scoops and a large piece of cake. This time I didn't even want anymore when I was done! YAY Well got to go get kids to bed.0 -
Agh, I need about 6 more hours in a day to get it all done. This week was supposed to be the calm between the storms and it just turned into another storm. My SIL went into preterm labor on Monday, so I had to get my niece and run some other errands for her, had a surprise Girl Scout meeting on Tuesday, Wed was full of church work, Thursday was my catch up day around the house and then Friday started the insanity we call a weekend around here. I didn't do a single work out this past week argh! I am making it a point to fit in atleast 30 min or cardio this week!
Hope you all have a great night.0 -

I think I need to look into that book!
So my work out buddy got some weird bug bite on her arm this past week and she was put on meds and told that she couldnt work out at all (massive grrrrrr). She was finally given the goahead to return to the gym today (massive YAY!) So were going to go back tonight (I've been walking up and down my stairs but dont know how to put it in as cardio tbh) and I get to work off my rear. I've also hit my 220 plateau. I duno how I lost 4 lbs fast but I did and now I'm stuck so I'm thinking about cutting 100 calories off of what i am allowed to take in a day and I'm going to up my water intake. I'm hoping the combo will get me into the 219's and below.
Blue Rose~ It's so sweet that your DH goes walking with you! I need to get my DH a bike so he can go riding with me and my kiddo's when he comes back from this next deployment.0 -
