Lupus and weight loss

Hi everyone,
I was diagnosed with Lupus, Hypothyroidism, RA, Fibromyalgia, about 13 years ago and although I am in "remission"? at the moment every day is a struggle for "spoons"

I recently joined a gym and am trying to keep up with Zumba, cardio and everything else.
I am sick of being fat and tired.

I am carrying around an extra 100 lbs.
When you are chronically ill, would you carry a 100 lb sack of flour everywhere you went? NO!

I need this GONE!

anyone in the same boat? I could really use the support and camaraderie

Not exactly in the same boat, but I just found out that I have in my ascending aorta and was told to lose at least 50 lbs (more like 70lbs). Then I just found out that I may have breast cancer. Will find out for sure next week. The heart problem causes me to be very tired and I cannot lift anything more than 10 lbs or push and pull (ie - the vacuum cleaner).

Carrying around extra weight while living with a life long condition is very hard on the body, so it is why I came here as well.

Good days and bad days, but since I am checking in with a doctor, it is a little easier to stay on track.

A friend of mine has fibro, so I really feel for you. One day at a time!

    nice to meet you!
yes one day at a time for sure!

some days I feel like I could run a marathon... others I feel like I have been hit by a convoy of trucks :( haha

I really like the water classes though and they burn a lot more calories than I had expected!

My Mom is in almost the same boat - she was diagnosed with Lupus 20 years ago and she's just joined MFP and gotten started with a fitbit. I've seen her struggle and I'm so proud of her! Anyone who undertakes this journey with a chronic disease like that deserves major kudos! Best of luck to you :)
  • I have Lupus-SLE, Fibromyalgia, and some weird neurological symptoms they don't want to label yet. I am beginning a new chapter in life. My goal is simple. I want to be powerful not pitiful. I am disabled, in chronic pain, flaring in a vicious cycle, and am severely obese. I refuse to accept this will be my condition in life. Day 1 of my New Life.
  • I was diagnosed with lupus SLE in January 2011 when I was 15 and did a good job keeping off the weight caused by prednisone and even was able to loose weight! (I'm 5'1 went from 145 to 115.) Then I had a fluid build up in my lungs and heart and they pumped me up to the max with steroids, I'm talking 1000mg a day! this was back in August of 2011 and I've been slowly gaining weight since then. I'm 18 now and in college and I only am taking 10mg every other day but I weigh 160-165 now and it's so depressing. I've just started an all organic diet with a very low carb intake and trying to workout five times a week. I'm also drinking LOTS of water which is no problem since soda and juice is just unappealing to me. I hope I'm able to stick to this diet and I hope some of you guys have some words of encouragement. I can't wait to be in my size three jeans again!
