Sucking in that gut!

I want to know who sucks in their gut all of the time. Today, my PT lectured me on my posture. I am losing weight and exercising, but apparently I walk with my shoulders slumped and chin down.

Today, he told me to start contracting my abs at all times. It is not easy! He also told me to stick out my chest when I walk. I feel really awkward doing both, but I did notice that EVERYONE watched me when I walked like that. I am told that eventually, like any workout, I will get stronger and "sucking it in" will become natural for me, but right now I feel like I did crunches all day. Funny side note, at one point, I actually started sweating from sitting up straight at my desk!

My aunt told me about sucking in your stomach when I was 14 and I've done it everyday since then. Too bad I can't suck in my arms:/

I do that all the time too, I guess. It's amazing what good posture does to the message you send the world. If you walk in like you own the place, it's only a matter of time til you do. ;)
  • I'm somewhere in between sucked in and completely relaxed.

    semi-sucked?

When seated, relaxed, when walking, sucked in, chest up, shoulders back. This goes back to when I was a kid and had to do exercises for my back to keep me out of a brace (mild scoliosis). But yeah, when I'm seated at home or work, flabberbelly

I actively keep good posture yes. That is not sucking it in but also not just letting it all hang out.
  • Sucked and tucked.

I suffer from something called Forward Head posture and as such have to make a conscious effort to ensure I keep my head and shoulders pushed back as often as possible. When I do this I look like everyone else, but it feels so unnatural and awkward. Hopefully over time it'll become second nature and not feel so weird.

Thanks for that! I'm actually just over 30lbs down with 52lbs to go but getting very close to that half way mark. Seeing 52lbs to go is much nicer than seeing 82lbs to go. HAHA! I feel better than I have in YEARS after hurting my back. Life is gooood!

    Well now I'm just embarrassed!

I'm down 30 too, but I have another 100 to go. I'm glad to see every pound go. :)
