Weightlifting wont add calories to my food journal!

Hey guys,

When you do cardio and add it to your exercise diary, it automatically takes the calories you burned and adds it to your food journal, so you can eat more and still reach your goals.

But when you lift weights, your exercise diary wont add any calories to your food journal. For instance, if I burn 500 calories lifting weights, my food journal still stays the same.

Cardio is considered a calorie burner, but weight lifting isnt? I dont get it..

In the Cardio section, there is a selection for Strength Training. Use that. Keep in mind, though, that MFP tends to overcalculate weightlifting cals (in my opinion). Even if you're using a heart rate monitor, calories burned during weight lifting aren't totally accurate. Don't ask me for the specific science on this, but I do know it has to do with VO2 max rates not being accurately calculated during weight lifting. I take these cals with a grain of salt and don't always eat them all back. Good luck!
  • That is why I have a HRM
  • What is HRM?

HRM = Heart rate monitor. See my above post about how these aren't very helpful for weight lifting.
