Belly flab ?

Hi MFP's. I have a bit of a ? sorta. My friend suggested I take a before pic. In a sports bra/shorts. Now to all you girls out there that may have the belly flab, this totally makes me uncomfortable. I do have belly fat especially the lower belly. I suck in all the time but still have a pouch. If I exhale and let it all "hang out" so to speak, i just feel gross and it seems like it's never going to shrink! So my ? is should I take a before pic not sucking in and two, will this belly every truly get flatter? I started in October walking on my treadmill, was inconsistent but about 3 mths ago kicked it back into gear w/ more will power and also am doing insanity workouts as well. I read these awesome stories of people losing inches and stuff and it's so encouraging...I hope to be one to share that info too. One more thing, How often do you all weigh/measure yourselves??? Thanks everyone...

  • Hi!

I measure myself about every 4/5 weeks and I weigh every day but only change my ticker when it goes down..which for me is a very slow process..! Iv'e been here about 7 months and most people are stating that the belly goes last..I am finding that also but I am older than you and have had babies. I wish I had taken the before pics, I think they are helpful for motivation so yes just let it go and don't feel gross..you are here trying with the rest of us and that is what matters. wishing you good things!

I am sure your belly flab will go away as you work out and lose weight. You are young and healthy. It is us moms who have to really worry about the "mom flap" not going away!!! I personally have the same flap Adam Sandler had in the movie Click!!!!

I have this too! Trust me if with go down though, takes alot of effort but it happens. I've only started measuring myself recently, before I started 30 day shred and I plan to afterwards to see how much I've improved with that, but I don't know my exact starting measurements. I want to weigh myself every week and that is what I used to do but I hit a major plateau and felt what was probably best was to change a few things round (start my dvd) and not weigh again until after that.

I would take the pictures, of just how you are naturally, not sucking in, but if you feel uncomfortable there's no reason you have to show it to anyone, I took 2 before pictures before 30 day shred purely so it will motivate me further when I see the change I've gone through afterwards but I have no intention of letting anyone see it!
I don't know much about insanity workouts, but what really worked for me with cutting down the belly flab is smaller portion sizes and mixing in some cardio with my usual strength training. It's a working progress, I still feel I have quite a way to go but seeing a slight difference every now and again really keeps the motivation up.

Well, funny that you asked this question today. I have been at this weight battle/exercise thing for months and I just took my "before" pic today! I kept putting it off, totally uncomfortable with it. I had the camera out, my husband kept asking, I was conveniently too busy, just didn't want to face it. I finally did it today and I'm glad I did. I can see where I am going and I know it's better than it used to be. Nobody says you have to show anybody that picture, it's yours! You might not want to show anybody until you have an "after" pic. I also decided to take my waist measurement and I lost 1/2" since I started Insanity 3 weeks ago! I'm thrilled with that! I recommend taking your measurements every 2 weeks, some people do every week. With Insanity you might see movement every week. That's very motivating!

As for the belly, it will be the last to go. BUT it will go!
  • Wow, thanks to all of yous! What great advice and now I dont feel so yucky about doing this. Even tho I have had no children...yet....i have been asked the "are you expecing ?" so i know it's noticable. lol I did take my measurements on August 22nd and if I can just find where I wrote them down I would like to take them again since it's been a month. Gosh, I would be so ecstatic even to see mini inch off the waist/abs :)
As for weighin myself...i must hide my scale and only weigh once a week or once a month..i tend to get on it EVERY morning and it just wigs me out seein it go up and then down. lol

I will exhale, and take my picture...haaha I think i wont show anyone for sure until I have a great after picture of the progress :)
Thanks again to all of yous! So glad I joined this site...it's def. keepin me accountable and having so many people be so kind and encouraging is awesome! God Bless yas!
