When does your daily diary end?

Do you end your daily diary at midnight or after you go to sleep and wake up lol?

I usually log everything but snacks in the morning, and when the day is over, if I hadn't logged the snacks, I put them in and "complete" the entry, which is usually around midnight.

I end my diary at midnight. On the odd occasion when I'm up past that I add any "midnight snacks" to the next day's log. Unless, that is, I still have that many calories left over from the day before, in which case I add it to that.
  • I 'End it" during my evening cuppa... that way i can psychologically stop myself having snacks etc cos' i already finished for the day!
Unless of i'm out etc in which case it's always before i go to bed, otherwise i might 'accidentally' forget stuff :-)

I measure my days from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed. I recently switched to night shift, so I am eating breakfast at about 2, lunch around 8 PM and dinner after midnight. So, I just log everything that I eat from that "day" whether it's after midnight or not.

I don't end it, but I always start fresh with breakfast.

Any late night eating (or drinking) gets logged for the previous day, because that is when I "budget" for it. Because my activity is logged automatically from Bodymedia, the walk home from the bar gets counted toward whatever calendar date it occurs.

I work night shift so I have started using the 12A to 1159P time frame. It works best for me.

At midnight. I'm a night shift worker, and sleep sometimes comes at 8am other times at 2pm. Imagine a day of eating from 2pm to 2pm the next day on only 1200 cals. NOT happening, so Midnight starts my new day.

Depends. I "complete" it before midnight most nights but occasionally still add to it after if I snack late, assuming I have the calories left. If I don't then I log them in the next day although I don't like doing that really.

I know why you ask. I used to eat through to 2am and it was annoying that when you added an item, it'd appear on the next day's entry.

I've changed my eating habits though so stop eating before midnight for three reasons:
    1) It gives the acidity levels in my mouth a chance to neutralise before I brush teeth (bad to eat then brush teeth as the enamel is softer ie it can be worn out)
    2) Going to sleep on a full stomach can result in acid reflux while you sleep (fine in a way as you won't feel any pain but regular acid reflux increases the risk of oesophageal cancer in the lower tract)
    3) I was getting fed up of turning into a gremlin and destroying my town.

Ditto. If, for some reason, I eat something before midnight (waking up for a snack or just plain staying up late, I can always "add more entries" and close it again. Anything AFTER midnight goes on the fresh log that is for the next day.

When I go to bed with my cup of coffee and final treat (usually a flump or little chocolate.) That signals the end and sleep.

a day is a day until I go to bed and then I wake up and start a new one.

My diary is everything I eat from the time I wake up until the time I go back to sleep. I am not ruled by the clock.

The "day" isn't over until I go to bed. I work night shift so I go to bed at 8am.

Same here...I work nights, 7P to 7A. So my day ends at 7A. I even changed my time zone on MFP so that my 24-hour day ends at 7A. That way I don't have to flip to the right day when I go to log.

See I work from 11am Monday morning until Tuesday morning at 11:30am so its hard to go that 11:30 hrs without eating

I end it at around 8:30 PM. I'm finished eating by 8, I add any water I've had since then, and add two more cups because that's my usual before bed.
