Running is causing my hips to pop!

Hey guys,
So my hips have been getting worse as I get older (which is a laugh as I'm 23) and yesterday I was SO proud because I had run 5 miles which was a new record. I was so excited by it that I couldn't wait to run today but I woke up and my hips are popping and sending shoots of pain almost any time I move. Even when I'm not moving, they are still really sore. I stretch before I run and do a warm up and a cool down. So my question is three fold:
1. Is it something to do with the way I'm running that's putting extra pressure on my hips?
2. Are there any stretches that are good to do before or after running to prevent or alleviate pain?
3. I really want to run today. Should I?
Thanks!

See a doctor. That's nothing to laugh at, especially at 23.
Expect to be sore, especially if you're not a runner. But popping is never good.0 -
No don't run today. Any pain is a sign from your body. You can make things worse if you continue to run with those problems. I did that very thing but with arms and weights. I did more than I should with popping and pain and ended up I still have pain sometimes in my arm and its been months. Never do something when your not sure. Let your body tell you when to run again. Soreness and pain are different. If you heard popping noises you might even think about going to the doctor for advise on what you should do. You shouldn't hear popping in your hips.0

I agree, don't run today and see your Dr.
Did you increase your distance too quickly?
How old are your running shoes?
Those are the things I would evaluate and let your Dr. know as well.

I thought I was doing well gradually increasing my running and my shoes are about a year old...
