Feel like giving up already

For the longest time I had Trouble admitting that I had a weight problem. I never had any friends tell me that I was over weight. I still have those friends today and every time I talk about my weight they get mad at me and say that to them I am perfectly fine. I love my friends and they accept me for me but I feel like they have been a hindrance. I recently graduated from college and most of my friends are scattered all over the country. I have started my own life and got my first job out of college and my own apartment. However I only have one friend where I am and I feel so alone in my journey. She is a great friend but she is just like my others, she sees nothing wrong. I started MFP 5 weeks ago and I have lost 16 lbs but I feel completely alone, and just want to give up. I have been dealing with personal(emotional) matters that have literally made it impossible to eat. in the past week I have gone about 4 days without eating. Its not intentional but every time I go to get food I cant seem to actually eat it. I just don't have the support/motivation that I need.... any suggestions??

It has nothing to do with my friends, I said I'm going through personal issues and haven't eaten. I went on to a different subject with the sentence that starts with " I started MFP". 2 different subjects don't combine the 20 -

click on "find members" and look for some MFPers close to where you live with similar goals. Maybe you'll make some friends near you who will inspire your healthy lifestyle.0

I know what you mean. When I try to talk with my friends about my weight, they get uncomfortable and make excuses for me, citing what I've "been through" and try to make me feel OK about being fat. Bless their hearts, they want me to be happy with myself, but the truth is, I'm NOT happy this way. Sometimes it's hard for normal weight friends to understand. If I were you, I'd get involved in a group that focuses on weight issues and make some more friends. People who are going through what you are are much more likely to really understand and not make excuses for you.. She is a great friend but she is just like my others, she sees nothing wrong.
It doesn't matter what SHE sees. What matters is what YOU see and what you want. She doesn't have to see anything wrong. Truth is, you want something different for yourself. No one has to agree.I started MFP 5 weeks ago and I have lost 16 lbs but I feel completely alone, and just want to give up.
Have you joined any groups here on MFP? There are groups for just about every interest. It may not be friends in real life, but it's someone to talk with about your weight loss. Congratulations on the 16 lbs, by the way! That's great!I have been dealing with personal(emotional) matters that have literally made it impossible to eat.
I don't know what your issues are, but I think you should get some help. I don't care if you feel like eating or not, your body needs nourishment. You need to eat.0 -
I am so sorry I didn't separate my paragraph, I'll make sure to do that next time so you wont be confused0

I've been in that situation too - my husband swears I am fine the way I am and he will never tell me that I need to lose weight. It's a blessing and a curse! I know that it's time to do something, just as you know you need to. Don't do it for the approval of your friends or family, do it for yourself; because the only way you'll feel better about yourself is if you set your goals for YOU. It's easier said than done, I know, I'm in the same boat. Get started eating healthy, then follow with a slow workout schedule. And don't feel guilty or bad or sad about eating too many veggies and fruit! If it helps any, try drinking smoothies or juice. Sometimes I feel to sick with myself to eat, and juicing just feels different. I don't feel like I'm stuffing my face >_< AND it's good for you; better than not eating at all.
Hang in there girl0 -
Idk what it is. some people eat when they get stressed and go through things. I however don't eat. It usually goes away once whatever is going on works out.0

I didn't want to run this morning. A couple years ago, I completely ruptured my Achilles and as a result, I still have a lot of pain in that foot and leg. When I woke up this morning, my leg was stiff and sore from yesterday's chores and errand running. Instead of getting up immediately, I reasoned that it would be okay to take a rest day. I sat in bed and checked e-mail. A friend of mine had e-mailed me this link. I watched it, got a little teary eyed...and then went and put on my Adidas:

10 miles down.
You can do it too. Good luck, friend.0 -

Wow. Is it really necessary to be like that, when this person has come on asking for help? Do you really have nothing better to do?
Taylor, I'm sorry you're going through such a hard time. I hate to sound like a cliche, but trust me, this will pass. And you do have to eat something -- even just get some pre-mixed protein drinks or something. And as for the support, you will find lots on MFP I think. But I agree with a previous poster, if this continues, maybe you need other kind of help. Perhaps going to your doctor and see what s/he suggests?
Sending you good thoughts.0 -
Honestly, you just need to ride it out. I've gone through some pretty emotional stuff over the past couple of months, and there were times I barely ate...and times I ate way too much. I agree, though, it would be very hard to do this all alone. You need a weight-loss buddy. I'm sure you can find someone here on MFP in a similar situation.0

Please don't give up! "Giving up on a fitness goal because of one setback is like slashing your other three tires because you got a flat."
First, consider seeking medical advice, not only for your physical health & weight loss but also for your emotional & personal issues. If it is serious enough to cause you to stop eating, it is serious enough to discuss with a therapist.
I also agree that seeking support on MFP will help. It seems like your friends are trying to be supportive by loving you the way you are, but if you are interested in improving your health if would help to find others with similar goals.
Personally I find motivation anywhere I can get it. Currently I am working out using free videos from Heart and Soul Fitness (HASfit). I love their workouts, and the trainers are very encouraging. Also they have a lot of motivational quotes, which is where I got the one about the flat tire. Right now it is what I use to keep me going!
Keep trying new things to see what works for you, address your current worries, and stick with it. It will take time, but the time will pass anyway so why not keep working at it?
Good luck & take care!0 -

AGREED (with barbie3000). No reason to be rude.
