Help, what should I do? -

Short but sweet: I'm trying to lose weight but I'm going out with friends on Tuesday, I do want to eat, but I don't want to put weight on because of course, even in small portions fast food isn't going to take my weight in a positive direction, so I need to decide for myself what I'm going to do. I've considered pulling out and saying I've spent all my money, but then I also think I can't just hide from situations all my life because of food. I don't want to ruin my weight loss, but I still want to go out. What would you do?

<--- Eats fast food multiple, multiple times a week. There is nothing magically fattening about fast food. Look up the information for what you want to eat, then make it fit in your day. Pretty easy unless you're starving yourself on 1200 calories a day.0

I see it this way. Hopefully you are wanting to lose weight to be healthy and not die at a young age. What is the point of being healthy and living long if you are no longer able to go out with friends and enjoy urself????
two possibilities to do one or both. 1. plan out what you will eat where ever you go and adjust your calories for the rest of the week so it all equals out or 2. move a little more that day. so if you do not workout go for a walk or if you do workout spend a little more time working out. either way you should not put your life on hold just to save some calories.0 -

That is not true. Look up the restaurant's nutrition online; many now have full nutrition information available. If you stay within your calorie goals you can lose weight eating fast food. You might feel like crap if you eat it every day and not have much energy but you will keep losing if your goals are set correctly and you meet them. Have fun =]
ETA: many people go for salads in this situation but with dressing and croutons salads can be more calories and less satisfying than other entrees. I was shocked when I looked up my favorite salad from applebees and it was like 1000 calories because of the sweet dressing and croutons. Much better would be grilled chicken or fish and some veggie sides. There are yummy things at most places for reasonable calorie amounts if you do your homework. Another thing that helps me is decide before-hand that you are bringing half of your meal home for leftovers. The portions are usually too big anyway.0 -
Eat something before you go out so you're not too hungry. Then order the healthiest option and eat it or only part of it. You can still go out and have fun. Or suggest a restaurant with healthier options. Don't stress about it, though. The next day, get right back on your program.0
