My 30-day-versary-some sappy thoughts

I've been on MFP for one month and have lost 5 lbs- the healthy way!

Often we are told that the best kind of success and the truly incredible stories are the "me against the world" or "one man army" version. While these lone ventures can be great accomplishments, I think they also have become perhaps an unrealistic-and extremely difficult ideal. How often do we struggle silently by ourselves, whether it be out of fear, or because the first person we asked for help agreed to support us and then never did anything past that (I'm thinking of all the marvelous things I have tempted the future hubby with if he could just help me lose 10 lbs!). The "its-all-me" mentality, while perhaps necessary as far as the level of resolve, can be in the end... possibly detrimental, even for us lone wolfs out there.

About two and a half years ago I read a book by Robert Kiyosaki -"Rich dad, Poor dad" guy. And one of the hardest things for me to wrap my head around was having a team. I didn't want to have a team- an accountant, a lawyer, a publisher, a butcher, baker, a candlestick maker... hmm hmm a future husband or relationship. It really hung me up. If I couldn't do it all by myself- it sounded, well, scary and possibly, out of my control. Luckily, that book opened a thought process to me, and I have asked for help, skeptically of course at times, more and more. I have a team- a fiancee (who now follows ME to the gym- haha), a trainer, a marketing network, and now I have YOU. My Fitness Dream team. And I couldn't ask for a more lovely group of people to support me and also to support.

Guess I'm just a little sappy today- but great things are happening here-for all of us! And I just feel a deep sense of gratitude toward all of you for sharing your struggles and your triumphs. To the next 30 days!
(Congrats by the way to all the successful Lone Wolfs- it's a hard route and I hope you find your pack!)

    Happy 30!!!
  • BTW- Don't get me wrong. My fiancee is AMAZING and super supportive- but he also has an incredible metabolism and is addicted to chocolate and peanut butter pretzels and sweet as it is- unfortunately- loves me the way I am! Haha! I get him back though when we go to the gym. I am very good at organizing obstacle courses! hehehe

 I love that he goes with you to the gym! That is awesome! My husband is on facebook while I workout at home. Thats cool though, he has no complaints about the food.
