Terrible Past Two Weeks

So in the last 16 days, I've had about seven days where I've either seriously binged or just eaten terribly. Usually, I am super strict and eat very clean. About a month ago I was at my absolute lowest (114) and my family was actually telling me I looked too small. I'm 5'4". With that in mind, and a wedding on August 11th, I said I was going to treat myself. Well that was all it took because since then I've had those 7 days of eating "whatever I could shove into my face." This morning, I was 123. Granted, I had a ridiculously large binge last night, but still. Ten pounds. Also, i haven't worked out this past week like I usually do because I injured my leg.
I'm frustrated and that's the largest number I've seen in a long time. It makes crazy how much my body can change in such a short time.

is it possible you're obsessing over a number instead of seeing the bigger fitness picture. 5'4" and 114 don't sound overly healthy to me.0

Definitely possible. 114 was too small, and I know that. But seeing that number today was rough. I know it's a morning after a binge and I barely worked out last week but my body just doesn't feel right. I notice a big difference in stomach. It's "fluffier" than I'm used to. I just don't want this to be a slippery slope and I feel like I need to go back to being so restrictive until I loose about five pounds. Also because clearly when I do eat what I want my body gains weight so incredibly quickly.0 -
Alot of this has to do with exactly what's in what you were binging upon. Paleo eaters, for example complain quite a bit about that 'one night where I ate carbs and the next day I was bloated like 6 inches larger around my gut'. All because they ate pizza with white crust or something.
My point is, the change you're worrying about is most likely very temporary. Your long term nutrition is far more important than any short term deviance.0 -

That's so interesting. When I binge it's literally everything I don't eat on a regular basis. So it's been pasta, bread, cookies, candy, and ice cream. Even butter and salt which I never touch.0 -
I totally understand how you are feeling right now, but unfortunately you can't undo what's done. What you can do though is learn from it and get refocused on your goals - today. You look like a beautiful girl, no matter what you weighed this morning. Put it in perspective. You'll be ok.0

Maybe that's the problem, why do you restrict food? Food is not the enemy. Besides, at 5'4" 114 is too skinny, 125-135 is about right, even up to 140-145 is just fine. Quit stressing about a number, quit denying yourself food, and live life.

You're so right. I appreciate that so much, thank you. Health is the big picture and it doesn't have to be all or nothing. It's just hard when fears of being overweight again overshadow a healthy lifestyle. Thank you again!0 -

I began restricting certain foods because I have a very "all or nothing" personality. I used to be much heavier and cutting things from my diet worked. Then the habit just sort of stuck. Thank you so much for writing that last sentence. I really appreciate your advice, so thank you again.0
