want to buy a power cage/rack & barbell

Hello All,
I am currently really getting into weight lifting (Strong Lifts for now until I get my weight up and then I will be adding more) and I am currently suffering from lack of equipment at my ONLY gym in the area. It only has 1 barbell set up for bench presses and then 4 smith machines. I do as much as possible on the barbell when it is free, dumbbells if the barbell isn't free, and I unfortunately am stuck doing squats in the smith for now...

SOOOOO I think my tax return this year will be going towards buying myself a power cage/rack and a barbell set. However, I don't know where to begin looking/what brands to try and find and what is the best. I don't want to get ripped off pricewise, but I also don't want to get anything cheap or rickety that won't last.

Those of you out there workin' it at home, what do you use and where did you get it?

I also have Amazon Prime - Free 2-day shipping so I believe I could take advantage of that free shipping on these weights...thoughts on that would be appreciated as well.

Amazon will have everything you need. Read the reviews to *kitten* the quality.

If you're looking for used, watch craigslist/ebay

Got my stuff on Craigslist. Found a squat rack/bench/lat pull down set up with barbell and 200# of plates for $200. We bought a curl bar to complete our ensemble. I saw a deal that included dumbbells as well for $250 but that one sold fast.

This is the one I have on my wish list at Amazon:

    http://www.amazon.com/Powerline-PPR200X-PowerLine-Power-Rack/dp/B000VLRVSC/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=38YJ8MWTM3TOR&coliid=IBJ379TJOT3HJ

It looks similar to the one I use at my gym. I know I will never find a used one around here. I did find an oly bar & plates with a bench for $50 on Craigslist.

I'd advise you to use craigslist or another ad site. People are always selling workout equipment for a fraction of the price of new equipment.

I have a powertec power rack and love it

We originally bought a bar at D*cks......it bent when I accidentally dropped it.....with only 65lbs on the bar!!

We took it back and ordered a Rogue bar. Love this bar so far, but have only had it a week.

We got plates and stuff on craigslist

this may be a dumb question, but what particular part on craigslist did you find these items? in general?

We ordered a squat rack and bench from rogue fitness. Went w/ this particular model b/c of the small footprint & the ability to add arms for safety purposes.

On craigslist, fitness equipment is usually under the For Sale header in the "Sporting" section.
