How do you wake up early enough in the morning to do your work out?

I wake up at 1am some days. I simply set my alarm, count back 8-8.5 hours and make sure I'm in bed by then. I suppose it's easier for me because I'm a baker and I don't have the option of just going back to sleep and foregoing my workout.

I read somewhere..." don't think just go" . If you give yourself time to think about it you will talk yourself out of it and figure you can always go later or tomorrow.
I use this saying for my early morning running. I set out all my gear the night before. Socks watch ....etc. I have running friends that sleep in their running clothes so they have no excuse.
I also love the peace and quiet of early mornings... very little traffic....no kids are up.....just me and the birds and fresh air. Even so at the gym the early early morning crowd is all business no gab. As the majority have jobs kids etc so they get in their workout and get it done.
Overall the point is don't think just shut alarm off and go. That am shower will feel great and the rest of your day is available to conquer. Hope this helps. Best wishes on your journey~ !

Kinda silly... But I pump myself up while I'm laying in bed before I go to sleep. I think about how great I'll feel after my work out in the morning and think about what machines I'm going to use/what muscles I'm going to focus on. It works for me!
  • Set two alarms, 15 minutes apart. When the first one goes off, drink some coffee (program your coffee pot to make it) or have 100mg of caffeine (half of a standard OTC caffeine pill). Go back to sleep. When your second alarm goes, you'll be wide awake and ready to hit the gym.

I go to bed at 10pm and wake up at 6am every day. On a weekend, I might sleep until 7am. But mostly I'm up at 6 always. On days when I have to be at work at 8, I don't work out... just eat breakfast, shower, dress, and go. On days when I don't have to be at work until 8:30 or 9:00, I work out...I eat breakfast, work out, shower, dress, and go.

I wake up at 4am to be at bootcamp by 5am. Some days it's a major struggle to get out of bed, but it's nice to have the workout done and out of the way before really starting my day. :)

Go to bed earlier, set all workout gear out the night before, make sure the workout is all planned (home workout/DVD/gym/run etc) and anything you need is ready to go.

Other than that, my motivation is getting it done before the rest of the fam is up (I workout at home). That and the feeling of regret later in the day for NOT getting it done is far worse than the feeling of rolling out of bed and getting started. It's habit now, and while some mornings are rougher than others, I love starting my day with a workout and being done before 6 or 7am.

I've been waking up around 5-5:30 am for about 1.5 years to go to the gym first thing. I put my gym clothes on my night stand so I just have to grab and go in the morning. I try to be in bed by 9 and read a book until about 9:30 or 10. I use an app on my phone that wakes me at a prime sleep-stage. That kind of helps.

It used to be really hard to do it but now I know that I would much rather get my workout in before work. Plus I'm addicted to the feeling of productivity!
