I'm going through a phase or something, where Im really into rice..and I want to eat it every day for breakfast..or most days. With some soy sauce.

As long as it fits your macros, it's fine. Personally I wouldn't advise just eating rice for the whole day, but I'm sure you knew that.

I'm willing to bet that it's fine to do so if:

    1) You're not consuming so much rice that you're gaining fat from eating too many calories.
    2) Your rice consumption isn't pushing other needed nutrients out of your diet.

Sort of a common sense rule to apply here. If you only ate rice you'd run into problems. If you eat a diverse diet with the appropriate calorie intake, and you happen to include rice daily, I'm willing to bet you'll be just fine.
  • eating a bowl of rice isn't the question. The bigger idea is to make sure your daily carb intake doesn't go through the roof when you combine a bowl of rice with the rest of your diet.

If its white rice it's pure Hi GI carbs and won't keep you full for terribly long.
Try the brown rice - Low GI, keeps you full for longer, has more nutrients and fibre. Much better for you!
If your craving carbs, review your food diary and over calorie intake. You may have set it too low for the amount of activity your doing.

If you want to eat it with soy sauce each time, i'd maybe look into the low sodium (or another sauce all together) as soy sauce takes a huge amount of your daily sodium goal.

    Eat it.
Know that it's not the most nutritious choice, but it's tasty. How it fits in your "macros" really depends on your macros.
Know that you might be hungry again soon after (I usually am, after white rice).
Know that soy sauce is high in sodium.

As side steel says: common sense applies.

    cheers

I eat white rice about just about every day, with dinner and/or lunch. As far as i can tell I'm doing fine.

Depends on what all else you're eating. Nothing inherently wrong with eating rice and soy sauce every day. It's your overall diet that matters.
  • Yep. Macros. If it fits, eat it.

I read about someone over at bodybuilding.com once who was eating McDonalds every day and continued to cut. That's the beauty of macros...track them carefully and you'll find you have room for a bit of junk food. :)

Try black rice. They sell it in regular grocery stores, and I discovered it the other day. Apparently it's even better for you than brown rice, and it tastes much better, in my opinion.

An Asian here, we have rice like everyday, at least 2 meals out of a day that rice is a must!
Control the portion, watch out your macro and play with different types of rice, white rice, brown rice, and etc etc

Brown rice or White rice or Wild Rice?

me, I love em all but it is said “eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit,
little starch, and no sugar”, and rice falls under starches if white, you get grains if brown or wild but still in starch category.
    Remember:
Protein contains 4 calories per gram
Carbohydrates (whether it's sugar, complex, sugar alcohols or fiber) contain 4 calories per gram
Fat contains 9 calories per gram

Also, you can use Bragg, Liquid Aminos, Natural Soy Sauce Alternative too
