Hello (again?) from a mama of 2 with 130+ pounds to lose!

Hi everyone! I am a 25 year old working mother of 2. I have a 4 year old and a 16 month old. I was born and raised in Alabama and I am currently living outside of Baltimore, Maryland.

I have considered myself the "big girl" for pretty much all of my adult life. Looking back in pictures from high school and college, I was weighing in between 170-180 and considered myself to be "big" and now I am realizing what "big" really is.Oh if I knew then what I know now. They say that hindsight is 20/20, right?

I have gained a mess of weight over the past few years. I don't know how or why I got here but, I am here now. I'm famous for falling off the bandwagon and climbing my way on to only fall off again. Sometimes, I think that my problem with dieting is that I either go hard or go home. I try to make unrealistic lifestyle changes over night and I have realized that I need to make these changes gradually if I want them to stick.

Anyway, I could go on and on all day and start rambling but, I'll keep my intro short and sweet!

Starting weight: 285.6
Current weight: 281.6
Height: 5' 6"
Pant/dress size: 22/24 (varying brands)
Shirt size: XXL-2XL (varying brands)

Goal: 150 pounds

I don't have many full body before pics but, will snap some tonight. For now, I share this one from my daughter's first birthday party.

    Hello and welcome!!

I'm right there with you on the high school thing. That's about where I was and I wish I'd stayed that way now!

:flowerforyou: You are so pretty! You can do it, too. Feel free to add me. I'm just starting out again.
  • Welcome! I joined MFP back in January. So far, I have lost 81 pounds (and four pants sizes), and I would like to lose about 40-60 more. Trust me, if I can make this lifestyle change, anyone can.

If you would like to add me as a friend, maybe we can encourage each other. Good luck!

Hang in there, stay positive and take it one day at a time, drink lots of water and exercise and try and eat more healthy foods. Its all about choices. Thats what I do and it helps. I gained almost 50 pounds when I moved from Denver to South Carolina 13 years ago, but I'm slowly but surely working on losing it all and getting back down to a more healthy weight.

    Hi mama of two :)

I am also a mummy of 2 (age 2 and 4) and I'm also 5'6 like you. I started off at 220 after having my daughter, and now I'm 154, aiming to be 145, but quite happy where I am now, more or less.

What do you plan on doing for exercise? I go to the gym and do classes as well as using the cross trainer, treadmill, weights etc, and I'm also very active with my kids (as I'm sure you are with yours!).

Wen I started off losing weight I didn't use MFP and I was eating 1200 calories a day. Since being on here (420 days or something now) I've upped my calories to 1600, which is great as I don't ever go hungry and it makes me much more likely to stick at this.

Welcome!! Although I don't have any kids, we are close to the same weight and I can relate to those struggles and feelings. I'm going to add you and maybe we can support each other through our journeys! :)

Welcome! I am a sahm to 3 girls (13, 8 & 3) and they keep me busy, but not active, makes sense right? lol Anyway, I am not from Alabama but have lived here for a very long time now and spent summers here with my dads family. :) The big thing to remember is it's not a race, it's not how fast you get to the end, but how you get there. You want to do it the healthy way, so it will take time, I am looking at least a year if not more and I now have 130 to lose (started with 150) so feel free to add me as a friend if you'd like.
  • Thanks for the wonderful compliments and words of support!

Last night was my first Zumba class and it was amazing. I'm looking forward to the next class. In the meantime, I plan on hitting up the gym.

I'm good for jumping off and on the bandwagon myself! I'm 26 and currently around 240! Feel free to add and maybe we can be motivation for each other.
