My Motivation Stinks

Right now I am finding that my motivation is in the toilet! I should be proud and motivated by my progress, but I am not. I started working out a year ago this month at age 42...and to date have lost 24 pounds and went from a size 16 to a size 10/12....I started using MFP in March and that is when I really started to notice the difference. I guess I am in a funk.....stuggling to find the motivation to workout and keep logging. UGGGGGH!

has it been a short funk or a long one? If its short.... thats ok, we ALL hit it. Hit up what motivations you and go at it again. If its been awhile, stop NOW, and get on it!!!! that way you won't slip back.

Change of seasons is coming.... I'm feeling a lot of people are having "issues" either with work/home overall emotions, etc.... I think our bodies are feeling some 'change' and whatever is on 'top' of our own lives, its popping out as more predominant.

    Thats my two cents anyways
  • I've been in a funk for months and the scale shows it.

You are doing great and should be really proud of yourself.

Keep tracking, keep exercising and keep your head up!!! You can do it.

I hit play last night and I really needed that! It felt so Awesome to get it done. Hopefully that is the beginning of my upswing!

I know exactly what you mean. Although I didn't lose 24 pds yet. I lost 5 and then quit smoking as part of my get healthy plan. I am starting week 6 of being a non smoker. I haven't gained anything but I am not going down either. Kinda depressing......

I have taken breaks, and it was good.
Maybe just find a couple of things to work on, and keep track of that progress.
If you have been used to an All-Or-Nothing approach, then learn that smaller goals are very valuable as well.
    Keep going!
  • Keep going!! i lost, maintained and then did not weigh, log cals and exercise for 3 months and now find myself with 10 lbs to lose. I am pissed off but... it is day 6 of being back on track. No lbs off yet but I feel better and look better. Not bloated and puffy. Motivated to eat better and continue to exercise. A break is ok but... be very careful!!!

Thats all you can do. How psyched are you for today? What gets you motivated and brings up your energy levels? Coffee? Music? Visualization? Reading a motivating success story?

Start there. Find something small that will get you going for the rest of the day to look forward til the next time you hit play. It will keep building from there.
  • We all go through this girl. I have been struggling through summer so badly. But dont quit logging or working out. Even if you dont stay on track. Keep the routine up of at least doing that.
