Strength Training for weight loss

I have 22lbs to lose and would like to know a program i can follow to lose weight and keep muscle mass? I did stronglifts and it worked but my thighs go bigger and my pants became tighter but loose around the waist...

I want to loose inches off my thighs and waist and i know that i can spot reduce but heavy squats make me gain muscle on my thighs and tone up the rest of the body.

is there a program i can follow that will help tighten my butt but not make my thighs even bigger and lose weight at same time?

I've been having the same issue. I haven't researched it too much, but I've come to the conclusion the only way I'm going to the body I desire (losing the body fat) will have to be a combination of exercise and healthy eating. Since we can't spot reduce I'm not sure how else to go about it.

My quads, though, just keep gettin bigger! My waist is much smaller, but I can't go down a size in jeans because I need the leg space. Perhaps I just need a tailor and tell myself it is what it is.

If you find any useful info, let me know! Good luck.

    Spot reduction doesn't work.
  • i know that i can spot reduce

    Spot reduction doesn't work.

    True spot reduction doesnt work.

Try high intensity , high rep weight training, gets you tone without gaining to much size.
  • You will want to do both cardio and strength training but do not over do your cardio cause you will burn muscle mass. I am currently 149 trying to get down to 135. I do an intense plyo workout one day a week and basic cardio the other days like 20 mins on a stair master or running. Plyo is really good for toning without getting to bulky I would maybe consider joining a local crossfit if you don't have the motivation to push your self through a plyo workout which can be intense. DIET is key you need to be eating every 2-3 hours to keep metabolism up. GOOD LUCK!!

High intensity, high rep weight training is the best way to gain size.....

If size avoidance is what you are after, ultralow reps, 3RM and under, should be where you are working.

Pick up the New Rules of Lifting for Women. You may have had some small new gains all over, including your thighs, if you JUST started lifting, but if you feel bigger there that just means you haven't started to shed the fat from that area yet. (My thighs and butt are the last place I'm losing fat - that's just genetics and there's nada to be done about that.) I felt bulky when I was starting, too, but keep at it and the fat will come off and your thighs will be awesome!!!
