Chicken Tikka Masala

This is my husbands version which I just love. He was kind enough to input the recipe for me.
The chicken was originally roasted on skewers with the yogurt sauce then served with the tomato sauce over it. This is a quick simplified version, but it tastes good. Some versions are too salty. This reduces the spices to the Garam Masala and Chili, very easy. Serve with Naan and Basmati. Sprinkle a pinch of Garam Masala or Sambaar Powder on the top to add a bit more flavor.
Makes approximately 8 ½ cup servings
2 to 3 lbs chicken breast, trimmed
1 Cup yogurt, plain
1 can tomato sauce (the little can kind)
1 cup heavy cream
3 T + 1 t Garam Masala
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 t fine chili powder (hot)
Trim and cut the chicken (pieces about 1 -2 inch)
Heat your pot to medium heat, use a spritz of cooking spray to grease the bottom
Add the chicken, yogurt and 3 T of Garam Masala
Stir thoroughly and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to brown the mixture
Add the cream, tomato sauce, garlic, chili and 1 t of Garam Masala
Stir well and reduce heat to low
Cover and cook for 20 minutes
Crack the lid and cok for 10 more minutes
Turn off heat and let sit for 10 minutes to let sauce thicken (optional)
Serve with Basmati Rice.
Assuming you make this with a full 3lbs of chicken,
