So, i'm pretty overweight. I'm about 250 lbs, and 6'5''. Just started a long distance relationship, and I've got a lot of time to kill so i decided i'm going to get fit again. About 8 years or so, i was the same weight and i lost weight the worst possible way. Limiting my calorie intake to 400-700 calories a day. I dropped 70 pounds but once i was happy and started eating again, it came right back.
So my exercise problem... I've got a heart disease. I can't strain my heart, which means i can't do upper body exercises. So I've decided i'll wake up 2 hours early, pack a change of clothes in a backpack and walk/jog to work. Its about 8 miles. I'd go there, wash up at the store and walk home. Its a pretty relaxed job physically.
As for my diet, I start my morning around 7 with about 250 calories of some Kashi cinnamon cereal. I pack 4 water bottles and 3 cans of diet green tea to drink throughout the day. Around 11 or so, I'll start to get hungry and eat an orange. At about 2, I'll eat a fiber filled nut bar for about 180 calories. I can't eat lunch until around 4, which i usually run to my fit foods and buy something with carbs at about 500 calories. For dinner, its usually a lot of protein at about 300 colories or so.
Does this sound okay? Is there anything else i could be doing to help? Someone told me to incorporate almonds into my meals.

How active are you now? I would have a talk with my doctor before jumping in for a 16 mile a day walk.0

That is only 1230 calories eaten. You will burn a large chunk of that (or even all) with your walk to and from work. You need to eat more!0 -
I'm moderately so. I'm on my feet all day at work. I figured since i'm just walking it wouldn't be anything too tremendous. A few years back when i decided to start walking again i would push myself to go about the same distance.0

According to your stats you:
Maintain your current weight at 2958 calories per day completely Sedentary.
An aggressive approach would be 2lbs per week, a 1000 calorie deficit.
2958-1000=1958 calories a day.
If you are exercising you need to eat 1958+exercise calories(yes walking to work is exercise).
You are further damaging your heart by eating too little calories. Eating 1200 calories a day and walking off 700 of them is the same as only eating 500 calories a day. This is starvation.0 -
Alright, so now i've incorporated a few snacks in there like natural almonds and whatnot and i'm hitting about 1700 calories a day. I scrapped the walking to work idea. Now after work, i come home and walk for 40 minutes and jog for 20.
I've been feeling pretty sore. Its been awhile since i got any exercise haha0
