It sounds to me like the "message" to take away from the article is that any "diet and exercise plan" that you can stick with long term will do the job. You have to make positive changes that you can live with for the rest of your life. Nothing very "new" in that idea - this is pretty much what I see preached on MFP. You can't follow a diet short term and get lasting changes. You have to see it as a forever change in your lifestyle. (Take in no more calories than you expend, on average, to ,maintain at whatever weight you are happiest with).0

Some people, especially young people, are more motivated to be right than anything else. They would rather lecture than learn or teach. Young males are the common offenders on this site. They will come unglued at a fifty+ female for the weirdest reasons. Not enough protein, too much exercise, not enough exercise, not enough calories. It's like they think I haven't been alive for longer than them. LOL! Their diapers are still rotting in the landfill and they know it all.0

Yes! You can do it! When I first started I hung out on the Success board, reading each entry and commenting on their wonderful progress. I literally wept at several. I eventually started reading other boards and found that encouraging other people helped me to stay motivated.0
