In my case I chose not to exercise when I had dieted in the past and successfully lost weight. It's the caloric deficit that leads to the weight loss, exercise can help you achieve (or increase) a caloric deficit but is not necessary.
I run, bike, swim etc now but more for fitness than specifically weight loss.
If I'm not being to nosy is there a specific reason you can't exercise? (If it's not something you wish to discuss in a public forum feel free not to answer...)0 -
I dropped 30 pounds by not exercising. However, I lost a bit of muscle along with the bodyfat.
I basically did a gradually reduced caloric deficit from 2500 calories to 1900 calories over the course of 3-4 months. Every week, I'd reduce 50-100 calories. And I had one day out of every 7 to 10 that was a cheat day where I would eat 2500 calories. I also tried eating more protein than carbs whenever feasible. And I cut out starch carbs (mainly potatoes like French Fries), Pizza, Pasta, and Sweet Desserts.
The gradually reducing calories over time was critical, and having a day where I ate a bit more was also helpful. And on those days where I would eat more, it would be more of the same food I ate that day (an extra bowl of oatmeal, or extra chicken breast, for example) and not a unique "treat" which could cause a craving.
Hope this is of some help! Good luck.0 -
Can't or won't?
If 400+ pound people, disabled people and elderly people can at least do SOMETHING, then so can you. Nothing prohibits you frombtaking a walk around the block except you.0 -
Just eat low carb - The **** is great. Eat under 20 carbs a day and you will lose weight no matter how lazy or disabled you are.
There is 0 tricks, just don't eat above 20 carbs.

You can lose weight without exercising as long as you eat at a deficit. but why can't you exercise?0

My sister lost over 100 lbs a couple of years ago with little to no exercise. She wants to change her body composition now, but she lost the weight anyway.0

Based on a previous post, it appears as though she has a medical issue that prevents her from being able to do so.
@OP - Yes, you can absolutely lose weight without exercise, as long as you create a calorie deficit. Best of luck to you!0 -

Ummm, don't do this.
keto might work for someone trying to lose a couple percentage points before a BB competition, but it's not sustainable. You will not be able to get certain micronutrients without taking supplements, you won't come close to enough fiber, and you'll lack energy.0 -
No cant isnt a word here
everyone can exercise0 -
Have muscular dystrophy so that would be a cant!0

I saw your post on can't exercise - how about herniated disc awaiting surgery so sitting, walking and moving left arm is very limited and painful. Hopefully this is not forever but for now - not able to exercise - even walking short distances are extremely painful. I still want to lose weight though. Also have mixed connective tissue disease that is an auto immune disease where my immune system is attacking my muscles, tendons, ligaments and lungs so there are some people who exercise at least enough to count is off the table.0
