Gym Workout Routine Generator?

Hello everyone,
I have just recently signed up for a really big gym in my neighborhood. I want to know if anyone knows any websites that have a type of workout routine generator. I have checked a site called sparkpeople.com or something similar and it just doesn't have what I'm looking for. I want to be able to either customize when I am more familiar with my workouts or just be able to have the generator create something for me so I can do something relatively different either everyday or every week or month. If anyone has any ideas that can help that would be great! :-D

Thank you for your post, but that's not exactly what I'm looking for. I kind of what something that can create a workout routine that I can use while I'm at the gym. Like something I can print out or use as an app, but thank you for the links. I might use the workout videos for my morning workouts.0

Most gyms have certified (hopefully) trainers or coaches to help you set up a program.
They should be able devise several different routines so you can switch them up. In my opinion, this is a privelege you're paying for, so they should provide it without question. More than a session or two, however, and it's only fair to pay the trainer his normal hourly rate.
Another option is to observe some other people there and copy what they're doing. Look for people who are getting the fitness results you're looking for. Most folks won't mind if you even approach them and ask a few questions about their routines. Just don't expect them to give you a personalized hour-long training session. After all, they're there to get their workouts done and go home just like you.

I'm not a trainer, but love going to the gym and working hard.
Most gyms offer a consultation with a trainer who is *not* trying to sell you training sessions but is there to instruct you on proper form. My first recommendation is to ask your gym for a trainer consult where you will be evaluated and the trainer will write up an appropriate workout for you. If you can, treat yourself to a few sessions and take advantage of the classes offered by your gym.
I'm not trying to sell anything, but I highly recommend the book "The New Rules of Lifting for Women." Additionally, I use the Gym Buddy app, which does not have routines but offers the ability to put your own together. The iFitness app is terrific as it has videos and instructions.

Thanks for the advice. I'll ask the staff at the gym about that consultation. Though I've asked about the personal trainer stuff its just something I can't afford at the moment, but thank you for the advice millerll. I've heard about the iFitness app and will definately try it out and look more into it.
If anyone again, has any good idea for software or a website which can provide good workout routines please send them my way :-D (Plus it might help anyone else who might be interested in the same thing.)0 -
If you have a smartphone - mine is a Droid - there is a sweet little free app called "JEFIT" that has animations and you can build your own routines for each day of the week and set the weights, reps, timer, etc. Installed and used it this week - it is great. Will be using this to track my stats and stay on track when I'm not with my trainer. In fact he's kinda jealous because I don't need him 24/7 now!0

I do not know how popular this is, but my gym subscribes to a online program called Activtrax. I had to answer a bunch of questions online about my goals, then take a strength test at the gym. Once that is done the program automatically gives you a new workout for each session at the gym. It also does automatic weight progression. I do it 3 days a week. Each session is a whole body workout with an emphasis on one area. Today it was legs, Fridays is shoulders, ect. It puts me on different equipment each day, and the same exercise is rarely repeated in a short period of time. I love it! Its a personal trainer w/o the cost! I would ask your gym if they have a program similar to this. Otherwise I would recommend the above poster's suggestion New Rules for weight lifting for women.0

Well, so far I found out that my gym does provide consultations. I was able to get a couple of pointers and an idea of a workout. Thank you so much solarpwrd for that advice. I have checked some websites, but unfotuneately I live in Japan and some of the websites mentioned are connected with gyms in the states. Anyway, thank you for your suggestions though. It has still given me an idea of what to look for on the net. Thank you and keep the advice coming :-D0

if you have no idea what you are doing- you have no business changing workouts unless they cause you pain. In which case sub them out for something that targets the same muscles (google is your friend)
