Ive tried for the last two years to lose weight. Its been almost impossible.
Two years ago, my thyroid meds were changed from armour to just synthroid. The weight flew on.
Changed dr's. She started me out with synthroid, cytomel for hypothyroidism and metfromin for the pcos.
Nothing. Not even my numbers were good.
After two blood tests showing bottom feeder numbers, she agreed to put me back on Armour. Not working.
My problem is stress. I think the stress pooped out the thyroid and possibly the adreanals.
Im off caffine as of mid-May.
No soda for the last three years.
For about a month I was off sugar and flour products (I was trying to follow celiac diet with little to no grains as Im glucose intollerant...tho the numbers don't show it....I do have symptoms).
I lost six pounds in two months.
Depressing.
So, Im here to try again. Im trying with a different type of excersize (as suggested, trying to do things using weights and getting cardio at the same time as opposed to using isometric machines).
My goal is not only to lose weight, but to give up the sugar (my addiction) and eat healthy but to also feel good. Im tired of feeling sick and tired of feeling, well, tired. Im hoping to somehow jump start my thyroid (and possibly adreanals) to work again. Im hoping to learn how to manage my stress (tiny stressers make my body react as though the stressers were huge)----unless I have to remove myself from THE stressor.
If anyone has advice, Im all ears.

Hi there!
I don't know anything about the thyroid, but stress I do!!!
I'm a single mom, blah blah blah... After I finished school I got into martial arts with my kiddo. Hitting on the bags is the best stress reliever!!! OMG!! It feels good to hit something and not take it out on others who don't deserve it. I high recommend martial arts or fitness kickboxing (I do that too). You will work up a sweat and you will have the support from you peers there as well as here on MFP.
I hope this helps. It did me!0 -
welcome, and i understand the thyroid (underactive) stress issue. When I would get stressed I would suffer panic attacks and my body would seem to shut down (& i lived like that on a day to day basis for a while..whew...thank God that's over with). Anyhow, I dealt with that also and after deciding I was tired of taking meds, I started getting into meditation, and listening to calming music, as a way to relieve the stress. I also removed myself from the stressors in my life and within a few months my numbers were good enough for me to come off. Eventhough I get my numbers checked once a year I am proud to say that they have been stable since I removed the stressors all together. I wish you all the best on your journey, and feel free to add me for support0
