I'm having pain between my hip bone and bum. It is tender to the touch and hurts the most when walking/running and putting all my weight on the one leg.

Could this be the IT band?

as far as I know, IT band runs along the outside of hip/thigh ... could it be one of your glute muscles?

I don't know. Maybe? Would that affect as far away as the hip? When I press on the top of the hip bone it's tender, but the pain when stepping on that leg is between the hip bone and bum.

It's hurts and I don't know what to do to help it!

I am no expert, so my suggestion would be to google or youtube some stretches for your hips and glutes and try to stretch out all of the muscles in the area that is bothering you.

I always under estimate the power of proper stretching after a workout. It's usually what allows me to be able to carry on the next day!

Look up hip bursitis, see if it sounds familiar.

I got this same pain 3 weeks before my marathon. osteopath ordered immediate rest and refrain from exercise, and luckily it went away... it could be the IT band, or it could be weak glutes/quads...get lunging and squatting once you recover!

Look up "piriformis syndrome" and try some of the exercises/stretches.

Not saying that's what you've got, but they won't hurt you. Worst that can happen is that they won't work.
