What to eat after a workout?

Hi Everyone,
I have read in a pamphlet form a smoothie company that the body utilizes calories differently post workout and that calories burned should be replaced with a protein-rich meal, preferably liquid and other nutrient dense. Is this true? Perhaps they are just trying to sell their product by claiming that. I do not know.
Thank you

I am definitely not an expert but I drink Costcos 30 grams of protein drink and my nutritionist told me to drink half of it about 15 minutes before my workout and the other half after finishing the work out0

Depends on the workout... after a long run a good ratio is 3:1 carbs to protein, so 25g protein and 75g carbs to replenish glycogen stores... After lifting I like to just go with high protein and few carbs. I eat the carbs before lifting to power the workout.0
