Workout Pants

I have a confession, I hate doing laundry. So in order to make sure I get my workouts in, I need a large rotation of workout clothing. About 7-10 days to make sure I have enough stuff before I do laundry.

So this week, as I was heading into week 2 without washing my workout clothes, I realized I was out of pants. Well the problem is, I do have pants (and capris), but at the moment they are a little too big in the waist. And they do not really stay in place. This is super annoying. Especially when I am trying to concentrate on my form.

This issue wasn't so bad a few weeks ago, and I could use my non-adjustable pants with no issue. But now, it looks like my weight has shifted a bit, and it is annoying.

This issue is mitigated when the pants have drawstrings.

Last year I got a few pants at Target, but now all I see are the non-drawstring ones. A few weeks ago I picked up some Old Navy pants that fit the bill. I went over this weekend and they were no longer there!

Anyone have any recommendations for capris or knee length shorts, in a wicking fabric, with drawstrings (and a zipper pocket?).

HAHA, I had the same issue! I tried some on and then did a little stretching and stuff in the mirror to make sure they were a good stretchy fit, and well hello there girl! Ya I didn't end up getting any. I did get some capris from their sleepwear section, nice drawstring thinner breathable fabric. However, I could only buy black as the grey and hot pink pair I wanted to get were also see though. Maybe Target should work on this???

    Re: the see thru problem?

I have some Gap pants from 2010. These are awesome. (no drawstring...but they seem to stay up OK). Anyway, I have not been nice to them at all. A tiny bit of piling is the only issue. They have held up well and are not see through. I have done striped panties, leopard...etc with no problems. And they are like a medium blue.

The only bad thing? bootcut and capri length. They look kinda 90s fabulous. :)

I guess I will keep looking. Kohls had no drawstings. Well, there were some fila pants but they were so thin, they had to be see through. They were like panty hose. Not getting those.

    I guess JCPenney is next?

I would love some cool patterned pants too! So hard to find. Ugh.

Just ordered these at Gap. Cross your fingers!

They were about $30 after all the discounts. :)

I get mine from Target....19.99 each, but usually on sale for 14.99. I am losing weight rapidly right now so I am buying a size smaller so they end up being a little tight at first but not for long.

What I need is adjustable sports bras. I do not want to pay a lot of money for a sports bra that I will out-shrink in a month or two. Any thoughts?

Ooh that's a good one. I need those too. I have some super old sports bras that are downgraded to low impact. I find the Freyas seem to be better, even when the band is too big, than shock absorber in that regard.

I don't even know how I will manage soon, I seem to be losing in the band only. And I am currently at the top of many brands. Size chart. :(

Ok I thought I'd post an update. I decided to go to Athleta to see if they had any winners.

    Score!

I ended up splurging on a pair of Bermudas. It looks like they have a wide selection of bottoms with drawstrings. And a very very liberal return policy.

Considering I know I have a really long way to go before my legs get significantly smaller, I am more concerned about the waist than the legs. Baggy legs are doable, waist isn't.

But here is what pushed me into splurge territory. These shorts had 3 pockets!!!! 1 zipper for keys and chapstick, and two side pockets that big enough for your phone. I went for a walk with them today, and my phone felt secure the whole time. I had a place for my ID and some cash. And I didn't feel like I needed a bag. Win, win!

These will totally work when I finally get around to C25K. I can actually carry the stuff I want, without leaving anything critical behind. All of my other pants with pockets do not have a big enough or secure enough pocket for an ID, or my bus card. So what that means is feel like I need to drive and leave the critical items in the car.

So athleta is pricy. They do have sales, and a pretty good size range for "fancy" workout clothing (up to US size 20). Too bad many of their clothes are a little too granola hippie.
