Hi, I'm new to MFP, and wondering if I can use this for a bulk? I'm roughly trying to get 3000-3200 calories per day to put on some weight. I was wondering if i could adjust the app to where it will tell me how much protien i need and such. Like i know i need 1 gram per lb. When i use the app i'm always in the surplus like it tells me i need 2800 calories, however I'm getting 3k or more cuz of my fast metabolism. I'm just wondering if anyone else has any prior experience for bulking using this app.

Hi and welcome to MFP. There are people who use MFP for all sorts of purposes. Mainly weight loss, but there are those who use it for maintenance as well as those who want to bulk. Two threads/groups for you to investigate. The thread is about gaining weight (normally in the context of bulking):

The other, probably of more interest to you is the Eat, Train, Progress group.

ETP is moderated by 2 very knowledgeable people, SideSteel and Sarauk2sf. And of course a lot of others pitch i too. You will probably want to spend a lot of time there.
As far as your calories, you can set your own goals. From your home page, go to Goals. Select "Change Goals" then custom. There you can set your own calorie target as well as the split you want on the macros. And I've seen all different types of splits here. As far as setting your protein goal, you will probably need to tinker with the percentage to where the initial target is at least 1g per pound of bodyweight. That is what I'm doing, as I transition from weight loss to maintenance and eventually to a bulking program in a month or two. However, relying on MFP to set your macro goals will certainly cause you to be well below that 1g/pound goal because MFP's default is I think 10-15% protein. I have my split currently at 40/30/30 (carb/fat/protein), but you can play with it any way you would like and need to accommodate what you are are trying to do.
It's a great site and there are lots of very helpful people (along with the usual few internet trolls and mean girls - regardless of gender). But you look like you are doing great so far.
Good luck. Send me a message if I can help any other way.0 -
Appreciate it man0
