Why are you doing this?

Reasons I need/want to finally succeed:

* diabetes (type 1)
* husband
* future family
* ready for my towels to fit again without gaping
* tired of taking elevator
* only one hot at work (in a cool environment)
* want to hold a conversation walking up stairs
* tired of being short of breath walking up stairs
* might be able to use less furosemide (fluid pill)
* to be happier
* role model for husband
* be more active
* maybe my grandma will stop telling me I need to lose weight
* clothes to fit better
* tired of constantly pulling at my clothes
* want to be able to wear cute dresses
* tired of being asked if I'm pregnant (when I'm not)
* want to be able to chase my future children
* easier time getting pregnant

    Vanity is my number one reason. I know that sounds awful but it's true. I have gorgeous friends and am tired of being the fat one.

    Health is my second reason. I just had a battery of tests done and the attending doctor was shocked at how good everything was. Sugar, heart, cholesterol, etc. she even said I must have a "very healthy diet". That took me aback. Two years ago would have been very different.
  • -High blood pressure/BP meds
    -PCOS which I was told could lead to diabetes...sooo.. yeah
    -Babies!
    -Babies!!!! *verymuchsowantstobeamomsomeday*
    -Vanity (only slightly. I wanna see what's been hiding under the fat all these years)

    Vanity, definitely. I'm tired of being embarrassed to be me. The perks of feeling better are wonderful, even down a few pounds I feel a difference. But I want to stop cringing every time I pass a mirror. Stop running from cameras.
  • I Want to feel good.
    Reduce PCOS symptoms I've been suffering
    Have a baby
    Not be so hot & sweaty all the time
    Not be breathless doing the tiniest thing, like walking up stairs
    I don't want to be the fat friend anymore
    Want to look good
    Wear nice clothes
    Not feel embarrassed about being me
    Be a good example for living a healthier life

    The list is endless.

    there's a bit of vanity in there, true enough.
    Mostly though...I turned 60 this year, and I didn't want to go into that decade feeling like I did for most of my 50s. There comes a time when you have to start taking your health seriously, or lose it..slowly or quickly, but inevitably. I choose to take it more seriously now and hopefully push back the problems, maybe for a long long time. At 60 I am in the best physical shape I've ever been in, and feel good (well, not today....sinus infection...). I plan to hang on to that as long as I can!

    Health! Had a health scare end of 2011-beginning of 2012 started with me on medication for obesity-induced health issues. Health is my #1 priority in losing weight!

    Mobility! One of my jobs is a substitute teacher and many of the schools I work at have 2-3 floors. Depending on my assignment I have to walk up and down several flights of stairs a day, for example say I sub for the art teacher or reading intervention teacher (in my district often these teachers don't have an actual room; so they go from class to class). It was embarrassing to have to rush from class to class and arrive all gasping and out of breath due to being so fat! I got to the point where I would only work at single floor schools SMH. Now I can zip up and down the stairs no problem!

    Aging! I would like to live to an elderly age but I want to be Jack LaLane old, not your typical old! I don't want to be sick and frail and using a walker and on a million medications. Exercise and maintaining a healthy weight helps avoid that!

    Vanity! yah I look much better and I like that!

    To be elgible for a kidney transplant. I've been on dialysis for about 3 years, and I'm more than ready to get a kidney so I can get back to a normal life that doesn't revolve around being attached to a machine or in a doctor's office.
  • I want to look good, but I don't feel like it's vanity or anything. I just want to look good. lol To me it's about not wasting another day not being & feeling as good as I'm able. Also, despite being in the "healthy" range my waist circumference just barely puts me in the risk category for heart disease, something that plagues my whole family. I'm the most health conscious of all of us so I don't really have an excuse to not cut that risk. Overall I just want to feel better and healthier.

    I'm the shortest of my bio sibs. I don't need to be the one who weighs the most, too.

    So far, I have the best health of the 4 of us too; I want to keep it that way.
