I'm BAAAAAACK!!

Hello everyone,
I'm coming back to myFitnessPall, finally! I'm a software developer for a large health system in Baton Rouge, Louisiana! (Go LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints!!!). I've been working out at the hospital gym at least 3-4 days a week for a few years now. I was also doing myFitnessPal but I stopped caring about what I ate and just worked out at the gym. I've gained back all that I lost the first time on MFP and more. I had the gym fitness expert do a BMI on me and I've gained some fat and some muscle. Remember muscle weighs more than fat, right? So I'm up to bench pressing 245lbs; I curl 50lb dumbells; and I do 200lb crunches on the ab machine, but I look more like Kamala than the Rock! LOL (What an analogy!). SO here I am back into myFitnessPal. Any help/motivation would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

  • Welcome back, sir! I'm in the same boat. For 3-4 months, I was going hardcore with logging & was frequently my gym 3-5 days a week! I had gotten to 18 pounds lost!!!

However, over the summer, I have backslidden, stopped logging as much & started eating like I used to when I was working out all the time. And I gained back some of the weight---5 or more pounds :'(

Dang, 200 on the ab machine? I used to only be able to do 80. Now I can get up to 110. One of these days, I'd love to shock all the guys at the gym by going up to 200! LOL.

I wish you the best of luck, dude.
  • I think I'll write a .net program that will remind me to log my food intake into MFP! I'll make it do pop ups, and send an email to my iPhone! Now if I could write one that would knock me upside the head when I eat too much, or drink too much that'd be really COOL! LOL:bigsmile:
  • HI,
I just began using MFP at the recommendation of my Trainer.
It is a great program. Just wish it was easier to locate guys that may want to meet work out or just encourage one another.
Over the years my muscle/strength has deteriorated from lack of use. As a kid i threw hay bales and other farm work.
    Been a long time - now 49.
I hope to build up to pressing your weight and hope to have a workout buddy at the point where i am ready.
I hope my trainer may want to but he is busy helping others so even though he says we will workout together when I accomplish losing 150 pounds. Anyway if you know of any groups or whoever that may want to be part of an encouragement group. I'm interested. Sounds like you will be doing great in no time.

I'm in a similar situation - have been doing software/database work for...way too long. I've also worked out since I was a teen. This last year I started tracking what I ate, and eating the right things - 95% of the time. Chocolate wins a battle now and again...
In addition, I changed up what exercise I do - rather than just lifting weights, I've added in plyometrics and some cardio.
    Feel free to add me!
