For such a long time I was so unhappy with my body image, and feeling sluggish and uncomfortable.
One day I just kind of snapped and found this website and haven't looked back since! That was almost 2 months ago
and I feel happier than ever now on this new path in life.
I honestly didn't know that it would feel/be so easy to start and see results. I always wished I could find some magical product that would instantly make me lose weight (I'm sure everyone has felt that at some point), but now I know it just takes dedication and persistence and it can happen.
I have always loved to cook, and now that I started using mfp I have notice I am much more creative with how and what I cook as to come up with delicious but low cal dining options, and it is really opening my eyes to a world I never thought of before!
I used to turn my nose up at people who count calories, and swore I would never be one of them, but I am enjoying this way more than I thought possible and can't wait to see more results!
Now that summer is almost over I know it is time to start going to the gym, and I'll admit that I am a little nervous about that. I have been relying solely on cardio from walking my dog, and as I have a knee injury, not huge into a lot of "exercises". As someone who is not looking to be super buff, just wanting to be healthy and lose my extra weight, is it ok to continue a mostly cardio routine? I feel more comfortable and productive doing this and hope I will see the basic results I have in my mind.
Anyways, thanks MFP for opening my eyes to a new way of life, and giving me the stepping stones to become the healthier, more confident version of myself!

YAY!! It is a great place, and a great community.
Congrats on your progress so far.
Like you, i just wanted to lose the weight and get healthy. I also have a bad knee. I was also walking the dog for cardio. Then I joined a gym, my trainer knows all about my knee and he put programs in place that wouldn't affect it. With his help, I have lost 60lbs. As a side result, the exercises I have been doing have actually made my knee much more stable, I dont have as much pain etc with it. And now, I can run!!!
Good luck to you!0 -
