Time for a change...

I'm a 34 year old stay at home mother to a soon to be 3 year old little girl. I have a wonderful fiance whom I've been with for 4 years this month. I'm 5'8" and weigh 280lbs. Most people are surprised when I tell them how much I weigh. I usually hear comments such as 'You carry your weight well' or 'You don't look that fat because you're so tall'...

Yesterday, I took my little girl swimming. After getting out of the pool and changing back into dry clothes, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and I cried. I knew that I had been putting on weight since having my daughter in 2010, but this was the first time I really took the time to look at my body... I knew it was time to do something...

This is my first time trying MyFitnessPal. I have been overweight my entire life. I've had high blood pressure for as long as I can remember. It wasn't until I got pregnant that I had a doctor who actually wanted to treat my high blood pressure and didn't just chalk it up to being nervous at a doctor's office. I had also been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes while pregnant, went on a strict diet, and actually had lost weight while pregnant. (It was all monitored and safe for both myself and daughter)

I don't want to be a person who has to take medicine every day to make sure their blood pressure is good. So I'm making the effort to eat healthier and exercise more to naturally lower my blood pressure. I'm hoping that little by little, MyFitnessPal will help me in reaching my goal to lose weight so I can be a better mother and girlfriend.

Go out and get plenty of exercise with your daughter. It'll be good for you, your daughter and the relationship between the two of you. =)

    Thanks...

Now that the weather is starting to cool off a little here in NC, I know her and I will be doing a lot more outdoor activities. She loves going on walks...and I look forward to doing more of those with her :)
  • I have done my best to avoid mirrors and being in pictures because I look awful, after seeing a few pictures of my self at
Family get together I saw just how Huge I had gotten, I decide to make a change in my life, I am a stay at home mom and I have
5 children, I want to be able to play ball with my kids...I am 5'4" and I started out at 307.... I want to lose down to 140-150ish
I know I have a long way to go, but I will get there 1 pound at a time......I was told by a Dr, that the only way I was gonna be able to lose weight and keep it off was to have the gastric bypass surgery or lap band surgery, and I want to be able to walk up to
This Dr and say, see it can be done if you set your mind to it.....I didn't realize exactly how many calories I had been eating a day
Until I started using MFP, I was very shocked to see that I had been eating over 3200 calories a day.......I have started out on a
journey to make a big difference in my life.......NEVER GIVE UP!!!!!

Good for you, deciding it is time! Get busy with your daughter. Little things add up. I take my kids to the park and we play soccer, tag or baseball. My kids are older so it is easier, but you can kick a ball back and forth or chase after your daughter. Once you start logging, you will realize how many calories you consume throughout the day. I was in total shock at the things I thought were good for me. You can do this. Start small though. Try not to go crazy in the beginning and changing everything. You won't stick to it or enjoy it. Make little changes here and there. It will take time, but you can do it. A plus is, you will be starting your daughter off with healthy habits.

Good for you for realizing it this soon and being ready!!

I wasn't ready before when I tried a few times and was very successful..but when I hit a plateau I stopped trying...Don't Stop!! Work through them. I am at this moment 285 lbs. and 32 years old, which is 74 lbs. from where I was at the beginning of this year! You can do this! I'm going to send you a friend request.
