Sugars are a subset of carbs and saturated fats are a subset of fats. These settings exist seperately for those who are concerned about their intakes for seperate health reasons, but do not affect the settings for carbs, protein or fat. You don't need to reduce your carbs because of sugar since you would be double counting.
  • So what you're saying is I ignore sugar levels and just have the carbs? Same thing with fat? I thought sugars are carbs..:indifferent:

Sugars are carbs, and they aren't tracked seperately as far as the macros go. If you look at a food label, it will list the grams of carbs, and then the grams of sugar under that. Sugar will always be less than or equal to the total carbs because sugar is included in the carb total. If you are looking at how many carbs a food has, you have already accounted for sugar. The same is true of fat. The sugar tracker in MFP is included for people who are trying to keep blood sugar down (such as diabetics) since non-sugar carbs are different than sugar carbs from that perspective. From an IIFYM perspective, a carb is basically a carb (though you should try to get plenty of fiber).
  • 4 main macro s to track for "body composition'' : protein, carbs, fats, and fiber.
  • Thank you guys, appreciate it!

The daily recommended amount of sugar is 35 g, which you will still be able to way overshoot even on lower than 55% carbs if you eat a lot of processed stuff or excessive amounts of fruit. Just keep your setting at 35 and pay attention to what you consume.
