Sooooo bummed. I have been doing really well with my exercise and dieting for the first week, so i go to weigh myself for the 1st week weigh in only to find out i didn't lose any weight. i'm breastfeeding and you are supposed to get an extra 500 calories for that but i don't even count that to my daily total, so i feel like i should really be losing the weight. it's just so discouraging :(

Don't get discouraged. it's one weigh in. Keep working at it. some people take a little longer to get their metabolism going. When I first started 76 pounds ago, it took me 3 weigh ins to lose the first bit of weight, then it just started falling off. Keep your focus and look to the members of these forums for inspiration and support.
  • Dont be disappointed. Water retention and hormones can wreak havoc on your body. Keep it up and you might be surprised and get a big drop next week. The same thing has happened to me. Good luck!!

The breastfeeding will not last forever. Even though it may feel like it. I would not try to diet too much while breastfeeding I would just eat well. Keep up the exercising and the weight will come off. Don't beat yourself up, new moms have enough to worry about.

Don't forget to check your measurements too, that may be what you need to keep you motivated, there has been many weeks when I have lost inches but not lbs.
  • keep track of your measurments too. the first month i was at Curves, i was ready to quit when i had my first weigh in, i had gained 2 pounds!!!! talk about a dosappointment! But then we did my measurments and id lost 7.75 inches! that made me feel so much better.

Don't get discouraged at all!!!! In February 2008 when I started my journey, I lost ZERO lbs in the entire month!!!!! ZERO!!!! It takes time and patience. Unfortunately, the weight we all put on at one point in our lives didn't show up overnight and even more unfortunate is that it doesn't come off overnight either. Living a healthy lifestyle though will eventually pay off for you. Just stick with what your doing and you will see results. Remember, at this point in your journey (remember it's your first week) it is all about how you feel not how much you weigh! Continued good luck to you and if you need any help feel free to ask!

  • i know it's hard to know you put in all that work to see no difference but don't give up. you know after having a baby, breastfeeding, and now trying to get healthier your body has been through a shocking process so it's gonna take a minute. I understand the disappointment, i mean my first week i lost 0.6 ounces, i was so sad and three weeks in i have still only lost 3 lbs but i feel much better already in my clothes. Shucks i even brought a full length mirror and I tell ya my cellulite even looks like it's going away already... :-)...Hang in there just as you have been thru a new transition so has your body. If I can help with some encouragment just let me know.

    BEST ADVICE!!!
  • oh hun its only the FIRST time. dont get discouraged at the beginning. there will be weeks where you dont lose any, and there will be weeks where you somehow miraculously lose 6 over night! bodies fluctuate, it happens. especially when starting a new diet and exercise plan, the body gets confused and sometimes it takes it a little while to catch up with the brain on this whole diet and exercise thing and it will think something is wrong and that we need to save up fat so that we dont die because we're not eating as much oh no the apocolypse must have happened! ahhh save up fat so we can survive! when really all you've done is decided you want to be healthy.

dont sweat not losing in the first week, relax, take it slow, some weeks will be great, others will be average, and lets be honest some will down right suck. but that life and you gotta go with the flow.

and check your inches! i've been on a plateau for a month and a week (which i FINALLY broke through today! :D) where i didnt lose any lbs (i actually gained three and plateaued there for a while :explode: ) but i DID lose two stomach inches and two hip inches and a bust inch! :)

keep going, dont let life discourage you, you CAN do it! :flowerforyou:
  • you will it just takes time by nexts week you will see it . just hang in their

I agree. Right now, you have to worry about a lot of things. I would take this time to make healthy choices and take care of you and your little one. Later, you can worry about the weight.

thank you guys!! really makes me feel better, i just always thought the first week was supposed to be the best results, but i am going to go take my measurements now too! it helps looking at my little boy and realizing it's all for him :) but again thank you for the support, i really needed it!
  • You will have body and weight issues to deal with all your life, your time to be a new Mom is very temporairy and short. Focus on that the weight will fall off when your taking care of the baby.

Don't be discouraged....try measuring yourself as well because even when you don't lose weight, you could be losing inches.
