Why does MFP Goals calculate my weight loss at 0.9lbs/week, even though it gives me the option to enter upto 2lbs/week weight loss for my goal?? Should'nt it automatically adjust my calories etc accordingly?? I'm so confused.
If it helps, here are the numbers I entered in the goals section
Current Weight : 146.4
Goal Weight: 125
Weekly Loss Goal: 2lb/week
Activity Level: Sedentery/Desk Work
Excercise Goal: 5 times a week/ 60 minutes ea.

I assume that it's telling you to eat 1,200 calories? It won't calculate anything lower than 1,200. So, if you're a shorty (like me!) then it'll give you 1,200 and adjust how much you should lose based on that number.

Height and you don't have much to lose. IMO 2lbs a week at your weight and goals, is too severe of a loss. Set it at ..5lbs or 1lb.

The least MFP will give you is 1200 calories a day, because it's really hard to get proper nutrition in fewer calories than that.
With so little to lose 2 lbs a week probably isn't the best idea anyway... I did 1 lb a week until MFP gave me exactly 1200 cal then I went to 1/2 lb a week. (I think I was about 15 lbs away from my goal.)
  • Aah..thanks for the responses everyone!
  • Yeah set your goal a little lower. On average 1lb a week is a healthy weight loss and it's attainable. Don't set yourself up for failure you want to succeed!
