Soda Cleanse

So today at lunch I went to my favorite health food store where I pick up some of my organic food items, and I noticed two things. One, unfortunately they were out of my favorite (organic) juice drink, and two, that it is actually a cleanse. I had absolutely no idea cause I'd never looked at the bottle before that closely.

You see, I've been buying this particular juice ever since I was offered a free store sample and found I really liked the taste of it. I did read the ingredients (of course) because I like to make sure there are no chemicals or additives added and also I look for organic ingredients, but I'd never really looked at the rest ot the bottle. Anyways, this time (because they were out of the flavor I regularly buy) I picked up other flavors to check out, and noticed right there on the bottle it says cleanse. And sure enough, after checking on their website, it has options to use their juice drink to cleanse for either 1, 3 or 5 days.

In any case, I normally don't cleanse that way, but I do buy the drink to add to my soda water that I drink at home. You see, I prefer not to drink regular brand sodas for various reasons, and instead like to make my own. So, this is the particular one I use most often. I simply add a little of it to my soda water and voila, homemade natural soda.

Still, after all the threads that went around yesterday, the irony of the fact that in a sense I have been doing a 'soda cleanse' now for months, was enough to come post it here.

And, I will note that before any funny business is said, I assure you that while I see the irony, everything I wrote above is factual. The only embellishment I could have added was that I drove my prius to the store. Sadly, I don't own a prius so I walked instead.

Have a great day all! And let me know what surprising items have turned up in your regular food repetoire.

Anything we eat or drink is cleansed out of our bodies in the normal course of things. There is really no such thing as a "cleanse" for weight loss than means anything. Frequent cleanses actually aren't good for you as they mess with the microbes we all must have in our digestive tracts to process food.

I used to buy Uncle Sam cereal every once in a while, because, oddly, I actually like it. My son's girlfriend recently asked if she could have some. Then she changed her mind after she saw that it was a "laxative" cereal. I don't know how I missed that, it's printed right on the box. That pretty much ruined the cereal for me. I might buy it again once I get past the whole laxative thing, I dunno.

I wouldn't worry about the laxative if you aren't having troubles--whole flaxseed cannot be digested by the body so it passes through and cleans you out a bit, but it's not like you are eating a bowl of exlax either. :flowerforyou:

Aw heck. If it hasn't had that effect on you before, then I wouldn't worry about it. I think this is for people that usually eat bad foods and their bodies would really benefit from a good fibrous meal now and then. Your body is probably used to the fibre so it won't have that same effect.

But, just to be safe -- don't have too much! :embarassed:

I normally get enough fiber, so I never noticed a difference when I ate the cereal. I did buy their raisin bran last week, but I haven't opened it yet. I didn't see the word "laxative" on the box. Ex-lax is exactly what came to mind when I read "laxative"!

Bahahaha is this for real? Well I guess it's an option if you can't make real friends.

You should try all natural "Colon Blow!"

Take a guess: How many bowls of your oat bran cereal would it take to equal the fiber content of one bowl of Colon Blow?
