Losing fat trough cycling

Hi, im Kat and i need advice. Im 18, 5'4" and 118 lbs. I know im not overweight or anything, but i have a belly i want to get rid of. Please share tips on losing fat trough biking. Ive heard that its best to ride when youre hungry, so your body uses up the stored fat. Also, ive heard that its best to do ride fast, then slow, then fast again etc. Does that work? Please tell me what to do besides just riding as long as i can.
