someone you love is headed down the wrong path?
Background. My older sister is a tiny woman. About 5 ft 4 and 128lbs and is constantly obsessing over her weight. She wears a size 4...ah hello.
Anyway she knows how to lose weight....She is a master at it. She just doesn't know how to maintain it. I finally got her doing some strenght exercises (I lost 13 inches doing 30DS and she liked the results). She has been complaining for about a month that she is gaining weight...up to 131 from about 125.... ...I have said to her...get your food scale out...she did but hardly uses it...I suggested MFP...she uses it but put her weight loss at 1lb a week.....:noway:
She does cardio allllllllllllll the time, swims and is active with cardio with the except of one round of 30DS...I have suggested she start weight lifting....she wasn't sold on it.. As she left my house yesterday her last words to me were...
I am going to go get green coffee bean pills, some raspberry ketones and a cleanse...I lol'd...she said "What Dr Oz swears it works" :noway: :noway: :noway: I chuckled...and then said
"in 90 days you are going to wish you listened to me and started lifting now...."
So any suggestions other then what I have done to convince her (and I have a friend in the same spot and yes they are friends too)....Yes I sent them both pics of woman who lift now...before and after pics and they liked what they saw but....no it's a cleanse, green coffee bean and raspberry keatones for them....

It sounds like you already did all you can do. Let her blow her money on gimmicky pills and learn the hard way.0

You've done all you could do about this. You can't hold yourself responsible for what other people - even though they are family - are doing to themselves. You can lose a lot of energy on this, energy you could use on yourself or on people willing to listen to legitimate, sensible advices.0

You mean I can't smack her??? she is little....
I just don't get how intelligent people fall for this crap....esp when she sees results in me and others.
I guess I will wait the 90 days and help her start weight lifting then...0 -
People look for a miracle solution, that's pretty much it...0

Honestly, no. It's very rare that people actually take advice. So you are probably going to have to sit back, keep doing your thing and hope she comes around. And when she does, just let her think it was her idea...not worth the battle0

Your sister is 5'4" and weighs 128, which is healthy. If she wants to waste some money on raspberry ketones, so what?0 -
She'll come around eventually. Just have patience. There are just somethings people have to learn on their own.0

Ya, what's the wrong path here?
She's a size 4 --- whatever she's doing is working, yes?0 -
I agree that you've done all you can at this point. My workout buddy was like this for a long time, wasting her money on things like HotPants, Visalis shakes, etc. Thankfully she started listening to me as time passed and I'd share my learnings with her about weight loss and fitness. The temptation is still there though - and I kind of get it - it'd be wonderful if these things really did work but the simple fact is that you need to put in the time and effort to get real lasting results. There are no quick fixes.
OP, hopefully with time, as you continue to get leaner and fitter, she'll realize you know what you're talking about and she'll listen but there are no guarantees.0 -

No it's not...her bf% is higher then mine..by 1% point...and I outweigh her by 40lbs
As I said she knows how to lose weight...she is the expert...but she never keeps it off...
And she thinks this extra 4lbs she wants to lose should come off in 2 weeks.
Her wasting her money is fine I just hate to see her yo yo allll the time....using gimmicks and unhealthy methods to yoyo...
I love her and want her to be healthy and happy....and not so light in the pocketbook due to the gimmicks..we could be shopping for new jeans with that cash. :laugh:0
