Ok so I started making my own Granolla bars at home ... But am wondering if there is a such thing as 'low sugar' or low cal honey ? I buy the All Natural honey is it that bad? it's the stuff that makes the Granolla stick! so I don't know what else I use ...

READ IMPORTANT!!!!!! Sorry guys changed the recipe, It tried to write it by Memory but after looking at my SparksRecipe Iphone app, I missed ... a lot! haha

[EDITED]

2 1/4 cup of Old Fashioned Oats
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
5 tablespoons of Applesauce
1/4 cup of Honey
1/4 cup of splenda Brown Sugar (I replace with two tablespoons of Flavored protein powder)
1/2 cup of Additions (I use a bit of Peanuts, SoyBean Mix, Dried fruit)

per serving

135 Cals

0 Fat

2.0 G's Fiber

2.0 G;s Protein (more for me cuz I use powder)

14 G's Sugar (which I'm trying to change)

Mix well, put in 9X 9 pan, grab wax paper and press down Bake at 350 for 20 minutes or until brown on top, Cool on cutting board and cut into portions. Don't put away until fully cooled. Or luke warm for chewier granolla bars

Well, honey is pretty much sugars. I am not sure how it'd become "low cal" without modifying it to be something that isn't honey.

Sounds like a good recipe for the homemade bars. :)
Don't think there is sucha thing as low cal honey though hunny. ;)
Only product I've heard about being like a low cal sugar is Whey Low. (available at Whole Foods that I know of)
You can check it out at www.wheylow.com

    Worth a try I would guess. :)
  • Have you tried Organic, light Agave Sweetener?
I found it at Costco. It's all natural, certified organic, and a low glycemic sweetener.
Here's the link in case you want to read up on it

All these suggestions for low sugar whatever is sticky like honey? I just need something that's good for you that makes all the stuff stick.

It's a great recipe! and you can modify it any way you want! :)

OK, no lectures on using something "artificial"... but, just a thought to save some sugar and calories.. some sugar free maple syrup might work too.
