Hey guys! I got my first long term Zumba teaching job and I start Saturday! I'd love some tips- what are your favorite least/favorite things when it comes to Zumba instructors? Also, do you like the same routines week after week or new routines every week? Thanks!

Congrats!
I always enjoy very happy and engaged instructors. You can always tell when someone loves to teach and help. I love being able to learn routines and do them for a few weeks, but it's also nice to change it up... keep it exciting.
Have fun! :happy:0 -
I'm a Zumba instructor! Unless Zumba is the ONLY thing that you've got going on in your life and you cvan dedicate a lot of time to coming up with different choreography each week I think you'll drive yourself crazy trying to come up with new music every class! From the feedback that I've gotten most of my Zumba peeps like when I keep the same routine for 4-6 weeks (this is teaching at the same slot once a week, you may want to switch it up more often if you're teaching the same group multiple times per week) It gives them a chance to learn the routine and really rock it.
Also, I would suggest that you focus on developing your style and your signature. You'll find people are very picky and critical, and you will never make everyone happy. So instead of trying to mold yourself to what people like, do what you like and the people that like you will find their way to your class. Word of mouth is HUGE, especially in the Zumba world.0 -
Definitely keep the same routines. It's more fun when things are a bit familiar!
Ditto on the excitement level that and instructor brings...makes a HUGE difference.
The last thing I say....slow down your choreography....or rather don't slow it down but don't move from move to move at such a rapid pace. I enjoy classes where there are more repetitions .....because if I miss one I'm not only doing one step and then trying to figure out the next step. Simple but high energy is the key!0 -
Thanks for the feedback! I was also wondering weather people preferred more "zumba" songs or more "pop" songs (Pitbull, Don Omar ect.)0
