Stuffed Jalapenoes

Options
We Texans love our peppers! I had this last night at a neighborhood party and they were sooooooo good. I only ate two, but all I can say is YUM!

25 large jalapeno peppers (the larger ones are not as hot so get the smaller ones if you really like the "heat")
8 oz. cream cheese
6-7 strips of bacon
4 oz. finely shredded sharp cheddar cheese.

WEAR RUBBER GLOVES!
Cut the peppers in half and remove the seeds and white membrane (where most of the heat is)
Fill with cream cheese.
Wrap in strip of bacon.
Sprinkle with cheddar cheese
Bake at 450 for 15 minutes

I guess to make this lower in calories and fat, you could use fat free cream cheese and lower fat cheddar and turkey bacon. If any one does that, let me know how it turns out. janet67 (loser in Texas)

I've made these, but with a lower cal version.

I use low fat cream cheese, turkey bacon, and low fat cheddar cheese. Sometimes I'll put chopped onions on them too. Very yummy!!

Thanks for the reminder to make these again!

My husband and I make this for all of our family BBQ's only without the chedder cheese. For tonight I have prepared 2 and 1/2 jalapenos for each of us and I am trying it with the lauging cow swiss chesse and wrapped with 1/2 slice of bacon to limit the calories. Hopefully it will be good! BTY, I am in TX too and we do love our peppers!

omg, my brothers gf made these for us last christmas and they are soooo yummy! she didn't use cheese, just cream cheese and bacon in a jalapeno. seriously, we had them as leftovers and they were still awesome. make sure you stuff a toothpick before cooking so they stay together and definetly wear gloves!

This is sooo wierd!! An elderly lady brought me the hot peppers (along with some other garden vegies) and said every 4th of July she makes this SAME recipe for guest's! Told me to wear gloves etc;; So funny!

I've made these before with the fat free cream cheese and I take one slice of bacon and cut it into lil pieces and then put a few pieces on each one - just lay it on top of the cream cheese - YUMMY!

Had those, too, and they are awesome!

We make a stuffed jalapeno with boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into pieces to fit inside a pepper half. Wrap a half slice of bacon around the whole thing to secure the chicken in place. Then cook on the grill. So so so good!

Sounds Delicious !!! I too Luv spice. I know about the gloves, as I burnt my finger tips the first time, when I was young, and didn't know better. I will NEVER forget that experience ! Thanx. for sharing.

Just a little word of advice..if you make these the traditional way, as above mentioned, they are LOADED with fat and calories. Yes, you didn't need me to tell you that but my personal friend has it listed on her diary..she ate 10 and it was 1900 calories! Key is moderation but even then, are they really THAT worth it??? Believe me, I'm a TX girl too and love them but they are like Lay's, "Can't eat just one!" LOL Definitely gonna try the low cal way...eventually....maybe...as a treat...ha!

You can stuff them with cheese and rice (and spice/a little mustard) and roll them in egg and then in RICE KRISPIES and Panko bread crumbs and bake til brown and bubbling. So good!
