I had to take a rest day after 2 days of it because of some pretty bad muscle pain after the first two workouts. I'm now on the 4th workout of level1 (technically 5 days in) but I'm already starting to get more endurance.
  • FInished day 1 & it confirm what I thought - I can't do push ups  But hopefully by the time day 30 comes along I will have improved! Glad I have the first day down!

I did my first workout last night and I can't do pushups either. Apparently my shoulders are really weak. :( My shoulders get sore much faster than my legs or core during the workout. But maybe I can do some real pushups by the end?
  • Hi everyone,

I'm on board with this challenge, at the moment I'm on day 8 level 1 of the 30DS due to finish on the 8th September. Im doing this to lose weight, tone up but generally get fitter. I unfortunately put quite a lot of the weight I lost for my wedding in May back on (9/24lbs) but go on honeymoon on the 11th September so would like to feel more confident in a swimsuit.

The first couple of days was a challenge as I was aching but I pushed through, I definitely don't ache as much now which is a positive and the moves are also starting to get easier. I've tried this DVD several times before and never made it past day 2 so I'm quite impressed I'm sticking with it as I started insanity earlier in the year and only made 36/60 days. I saw big changes then but I am also seeing changes quickly with the 30DS which is surprising as it is less intensive and each session is shorter in length than insanity. The changes so far are mainly in my arms and legs and a little bit in my tummy (always stubborn) and that's just in 7 days however I have lost very little weight. I do recommend you measure yourself rather than just rely on the scales and is it can be disheartening not to see the scales move. I'm also adding in a little bit of extra cardio on days where I feel more energetic e.g I've done a 2.5 mile run and a Zumba DVD this week.

    Good luck everyone!

Update: I just finished level 1 day 6 and I feel so much better! On day 1 i thought I was going to die and the next 4 days were spent pushing through even though my whole body was sore!

Yesterday (day 5) I starting doing regular push ups for the first set and only modified ones on the second set and MAN they are hard! I pumped out 7, and my goal is to be able to do 10 before moving up to level 2.

How is everyone else doing so far?

You should notice a difference in about 2 weeks, or at least that's what happened to me. After the 30 days I started Killer Buns & Thighs and will do that for another 30 days. Talk about a "killer"!!! Anyway my plan is to do each video (I have 4 of Jillian's workout videos) for 30 days and start over again or buy some more. I get bored very easily and that has been one of my problems and what I am trying to avoid. Good luck!
  • well i have started the 30 challenge on last week friday Aug 15th. the first day was a little hard but i was able to give it my all. saturday i had a big event so i missed day 2. but sunday was day 3 for me and i made sure i worked out hard. eventhou i missed day 2 work out, my body was still very sore on sunday. i was still in pain and my arms and inner thigs are super sore. sense i missed day 2 i will finish the program Sep 16th instead of the 15th. i dont want to cheat my self.

so hows every one doing so far?
  • I just started level 2 yesterday. I was worried, but I'm not in near as much pain as when I first started the shred. I am definitely noticing things tightening up even though I haven't lost any weight.

I'm starting Level 2 today and quite looking forward to it, I was getting a little bored of level 1 and possibly wasn't putting my all into it the last two days. I have noticed that my arms are getting stronger, I think I've lost some tummy fat and my legs are definitely more toned. The scales haven't moved much and I don't feel like I've lost much in inches either but I'm trying not to get too hung up on it and just keep going as it's improving my fitness anyway.
  • Hi everyone.

Yesterday was day 1 of the shred for me. Woke up this morning and 30 days seems like such a long way away so really want to get involved in some of these threads for support!

I purchased a polar HRM yesterday to help with motivation, and plan to embark on day 2 for the next hour!

Good to read some of the previous posts and see we share some of the same frustrations...will I ever be able to do push ups!?!

It's my first day today and I hope like many of you to be able to finish the 30 days and see a huge improvement, I have also taken before pics and measurements.

Is it really true, I will be able to do some push up??? No matter how hard I try I have never been able to do them before.

Excited to see how we all get along :)

Hey guys hows it going now? No one has posted for a few days. I missed 2 days this past week so I just finished level 2 day 3. Its killing me! Not so much soreness but just endurance-wise. I'm hoping I build up to it like I did with level 1 though. No more regular push ups here! I find the walk out press way easier maybe cause i get a little break in between the push up

Any of you guys still doing this? I just finished L3D2 today and I'm feeling a bit discouraged because the scale hasn't moved since I started. I keep telling myself its muscle gain, but its hard to confirm when the tape measure hasn't moved and I dont have a BF% calculator (before or now).
  • I tried it before and i quit after the first day haha but i really want to try again
  • Aharburger, even if youre not losing any weight, youre gaining muscule either way and becoming stronger and healthier! Even if you wont lose any more with this program, just stick with it to the end for other benefits and then find a different path. Just stay motivated, ok?

I finished L1D2 a few hours ago and was surprised with the workout. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be, and I'm using 10 pound weights instead of 5. Granted it is definitely a struggle for me to complete the weight work outs, but I didn't feel 5 was enough. I've been running and using my elliptical for two months and haven't lost any weight in several weeks, so I'm hoping this workout changes things. I'm going to keep running for cardio, as I don't feel the Shred gives me enough, any thoughts on this?

    My measurements are:
    Weight:160
    Neck:12
    Waist: 32
    Hips: 39

Looking forward to doing it again tomorrow, I'm ready to get off this plateau already!
  • did any of you eat healthy during this? or just eat how you normally did? Im on day 4 and have lost 5 pounds,

I would recommend taking rest days in between if you're a beginner. I started a few days ago and only stopped aching enough to do about two thirds of the routine again today. i couldn't finish today because i was too achy from a few days ago. o.o hopefully i'll build up enough muscle over a week or two that i'll be able to do it every day without rest. :)

I am going to start this tomorrow. Since I left the gym in order to cycle to work instead, I have noticed that I am less toned than I used to be so I will be using this to compliment my cycling (16 miles 3/4 times a week)

I am looking forward to it!
